Sandhurst Returns

Heya Folks

As I said in my previous post, Sandhurst Academy has now had an updated page. I'll be trying to do more updates a week, probably gallery entries or something, but expect a definite update on the comic every Sunday for the forseeable future. We'll hopefully see it move to a bi-weekly update once I get back into the swing of things, and eventually a tri-weekly update.
Other then that, have a new phone...as in I actually have a working mobile phone now. This is a big deal seeing as I haven't had a working mobile for nearly 2 years. Pretty cool being able to text people again.
I also went to the celebration of the name change of the company I work for, which was pretty dang exiting to see all the people down in the Melbourne place I've never met before. Got to go to the top floor of the Eureka tower and everything which was pretty cool, if a little scary for someone like me who hates heights.
My anime and manga collection is on a continual rise at the moment, I've nearly used up all the space I have currently available so I'm doing well :P

Anywho that'll be enough, be sure to check the comic if you want, or yerknow, wait till next Sunday when another page will be up, so you can read two at the same time instead of one or something :P Or not, your choices as everything is.
Oh and as I like to pretend I say a lot, "Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine." Damm coke machine.....

Time goes on

Heya

Been a while since the last post.
Anywho lot of things will be happening shortly.
One is Sandhurst will be getting a new website at some point, and the comic will also be continued from where it was left off. Probably going to be aiming for a once a week release until I get a buffer organised, then moving up to a biweekly update or even three updates a week(here's hoping) But I will be holding back on rushing into this one as I've taken a long break from drawing.
On other news, I've been terribly busy at work, calls are flying through, and I'm lucky if I get a moments peace to even think. But we are getting some new people so hopefully the pressure will ease off soon.
I've also started the first draft of my Realm storyline, staring the Eledor that this blog has been named after, and his sidekick Aeries(actually Aeries is the main character)
I've been writing one or two pages a night, before I go to sleep, and I have been managing this for the last 3 months now, without missing a single night. I'm impressed with myself even if no one else is :P
Other then that, I'm finding at present I don't have the energy or available time to continue TICTTAS(the abridged thingy), for now anyway, I may change my tune in the future, but I feel I need to focus on my writing and comic at present.
My brother got himself a girlfriend, and has now moved in with her, good on him I say :P. And my sister will finish her accounting course soon, and hopefully get herself a very nice job.

Now, as I tend to do, when watching a momentus event, such as a wedding of a cousin, I start to get a bit reflective and look at myself. Look at where I've gotten too, and what I've achieved. First thing I did was cut my hair, I'll probably grow it long again, but that will take months at least. Next thing I did was make the commitment to myself to continue my webcomic, and get a redesign of its website and new domain name organised for it.
But simply I realised if I want to do the things I want to do I have to get my act into gear, I've already been reducing my expenditure and saving a bit of money(kinda aiming to purchase a house when I can), but the added benefit is I have a lot of cash on hand if something happens, need a lot more though.

But anyway, just thought I'd mention stuff is happening again, and the return of a regularly updated Sandhurst Academy will be arriving by the end of this week.

Hello Peoples

I finally did it, the first episode of the Irresponsible Captain Tylor, The Abridged Series is up, or as I like to refer to it, TICTTAS Ep 1.

Anyway the quality's a bit schwonky, but I've literally spent two years sitting on this one, and really wanted to get onto the next episode, something is better then nothing, and there can be no improvement without something awful coming first(depends on personally preference, its better then some I've seen, but a lot worse then others as well).

Aside from that my family suffered a loss, with the Matriarch of my mother's side of the family passing just a month or two ago. During the first holidays I've had in six months no less, so to be blunt, I didn't have a fun time of it, and neither did anyone else.

On the website front, I'm gearing myself up for a productive couple of months(I actually have some pages that are nearly ready to be put on te website, but haven't got round to due to being busy(playing games)) and you'll probably be seeing some updates there at some point, in the next couple of months.

I'm also gearing up for a collaborative project with some friends, where I'm the artist to their writing and storyboarding. A few things we need to do before that one starts though, one of which is finalising some character designs.

Other then that, things seem to be moving pretty well, I'm feeling more and more confident in my job at present, I'm sorting fitting into the notch as the go to guy for a variety of issues(not a huge amount but some at least), and some difficult customers. And am nearing two years of employment with the company. So even if anything bad ever happens I have some pretty useful experience to get me another job, though I still feel I'm sorely lacking in the people skills department, despite my confidence on the phone.

Anyway I think that's a pretty good update, uh and if you want share that youtube link with your friends or something(If anyone other then me reads this that is.)

Been a while

Hey guys

Been a while, I'll admit, anywho I'm expecting some holidays to be coming up, which I intend to spend a bit of time by catching up on the things I've been neglecting. Essentially at the moment I feel I've got into a bit of rythym at work and things seem to be working out pretty well. I think I'm pretty useful at the moment, so I'm pretty certain my job is pretty safe now.
Anyway I have been seriously neglecting my drawing, though I have been doing a drawing class, which is mainly just a refresher on proper drawing techniques then me learning anything new.
Expect some new pages for Sandhurst Academy to appear on my website in the next two months I won't promise frequent updates but a few should make their way up onto the website between now and the end of the year. And I'm also beginning to start drawing Children of Prometheus, at least the early roughs for some pages.
On the TICTTAS front, I'm almost considering dropping it in favor of a more serious series, which would lend itself better to parody, like Darker Than Black or even the Armitage movies. Might be fun who knows, I think I'll get one episode of TICTTAS done, see what and if the general response is, and maybe switch to something different. Anyway other then that, my time is being taken for organising a roleplaying game for my friends as well as my standard anime and manga viewing which I do a lot of.
And I bought an A3 capable scanner/printer/fax which means I can finally scan some of my larger pictures for web viewage. The other factors for a lack of activity is the acquisition of a new computer, as I slowly bring everything over to it. Plus I have two screens now. Which is actually really cool.

Anywho, expect some updates to my website in the next two months, inlcuding possibly some more details on the CoP comic I'm currently working on with two of my friends. I'm not going to say much about it, as it'll probably spoil it, other then it is based of a roleplaying game we are still currently playing.

Election time

Hey people's

It's election time in Australia, and that means practically nothing to me, but above and beyond...I'm really sad, as my favourite character in Bleach may have just been killed off :( SAD FACE, this is where Orihime would be awesome to appear...but I'll have to wait till next week to find out...

Anywho, got a new comic in the works to run concurrently with Sandhurst, labelled Children of Prometheus, or as I abbreviate it, CoP. Following the adventures of a rag tag bunch of guys and gals, as they do stuff. It's a superhero comic, but done in a style similar to Heroes, but a heck of a lot less cryptic...well at first at any rate.

Anywho I should have a new Sandhurst page up this weekend, most likely Sunday, as I delve into the wonders of a noir styled comic.

Heya Folks,

Been a real quiet week at work so far, maybe its waiting around a corner to ambush us, but at the moment, its looking okay. As long as nothing bad happens, and I keep on top of things, I think things will be fine(fingers crossed).

Anywho on other more fun things, uhrmmmm, hmmm, oh yeah did you see those two pages I put up, wait already mentioned them, uhrrmmm, well...I'm going into money saving mode at the moment, I'm gonna be holding off on large spending sprees for a little, as I'm trying to build up some cash, to do what with I'm not to sure to be honest, but having a bit of cash on hand is always pretty nice.

Another thing I'm planning on doing is getting a debit card, earning money is nice and all but when you can't pay for things online it tends to suck a little, especially when the things you want, can only be bought online.

Hmmm, other then that, I really need to upgrade the old bombshell I have of a computer, I've managed to extend its lifetime somewhat, by replacing some parts here and there, but when its still operating on a single core processor, it tends to you know be not...so...good...yeah...

Although I definitely like Windows 7, much quicker, then my old slowly dieing XP, and my work computer which operates on Vista, plus has a broken screen...yes anyway.

Anywho, so things seem to be okay, but I'm gonna be super vigilant for a good long while, to hopefully catch anything before it becomes a major issue. And here I thought I was pretty good at the whole customer service rep, BB tech thing, ah well, ya snooze ya get fired from a large cannon into the stratosphere where you fall down and burn up in the atmosphere, before smacking into the ocean at terminal velocity, and well you know, smeer into nothing.

Page 26 of my comic is up now, so if you're interested you can go check, its apparantly not to bad, or so I've been told, much to my own surprise.

An update on Captain Tylor the Abridged Series, I screened it in front of a couple friends, and recieved something of a lukewarm reception(to say it lightly), so I'm redoing the first episode from scratch, I'm not planning to take nearly as long with it(probably a month so halfway through June), but its gonna be like twenty times betterer or something. Not that I have anything to show just yet, maybe I'll put up some sound tests for the different characters, or a meet the character thing.

So in other words regular weekly updates of my comic has started again, at the moment it will only be 1 a week, but eventually I'll move up to two a week, and hopefully eventually five a week. the pages on the whole aren't that complex and if I get my act into gear I can easily get a fair few done in a short period of time(maybe).

Anywhoisitanyway, I bought a new DS last week, and well haven't really done much with it yet, and I went and visited the old Melbourne Zoo, saw a bunch of animals, looked like a hippy nerd thing...or something and uh complained a lot about only having four hours of sleep. Then paid for everyone's tea at an expensive(maybe average priced) restaurant, which I do want to paid back on guys, $158 ain't anything to sniff at, *sniff, I would be less annoyed if we weren't only a short walk from McDonalds(cheap food FTW), but I digress.

I also bought a bunch of mangas and anime while visiting Borders.

As you can see I'm a bit of a Gundam Fan, when I was tossing up ideas when trying to decide what show to do an abridged Series on, I thought about doing Gundam Seed, or Wing, but people had already beat me to the punch, i settled for FMP, but just as I had finished a third of the first episode, I found someone had again beaten me to the punch, a little sad I switched to Captain Tylor, a series that I really do love, but I had lost my steam for a while, and work started tiring me out a heck of a lot. So nothing happened for a while, then I finally started work on it, and well yeah the result was less then stella, so back to the drawing board. I'm going to tightly script this one unlike my last attempt, where I was sorta coming up with it on the fly, and basically forgot the whole parody part of the concept of abridging.

The Realm

Heya folks

Just thought I'd lay some ground work for what will be my next comic work after Sandhurst Academy comes to a close(when I get myself back into gear of course and Sandhurst Academy will actually have an end to it)

Anywho this work is one I've been working on for several years now, which Sandhurst Academy is meant mainly to be practice before I start this one.
The world of the Realm is located in a sort of mirrored Medieval Europe(so all the countries are back to front on the map) and is centered on the Chandrillan Empire, which was directly inspired by the late Byzantine Empire, which I started doing some reading on after I played Medieval Total War and found them to be my favorite team.
It focuses on the adventures of an atypical Knight and his idealistic squire as they journey across this vast country, encountering foes and allies as they go.

The atypical knight is named Eledor, a white haired somewhat mercenary, gruff, and distant veteran of a number of battles and wars. And his squire is named Aeries, who is a red haired idealistic individual who strives to change Eledor's attitude for the better and to help those in need around them whenever they can.

I'm not really going to reveal to much about them as of yet, as it could spoil the story, and we can't have that :)

Anywho other then that Sandhurst Academy will resume updating on Sunday the 16th of May I have got a number of pages done in advance, and should be able to produce them at a more steady rate, for now I will be sticking to one a week, but that number will go up as I do have some things I want to try in this odd and fairly quirky story I'm doing with it, and I don't plan on spending five years working on the one thing.

Captain Tylor the Abridgination, will be up by the end of this week, and if I don't get it done...I'll....uh...promise to get it done next week or something...yeah...

Other then that I'll possibly be posting up some character pictures I've been working on. And I've been racking up a few as I go along.

Well Hey and Stuff

Heya folks,

Well life continues on and stuff, jut did Relay for Life, and walked for about two or so hours straight, even managed to run 400 metres, before I fell over and died...

Well as you can see I got better, though my knees are going "OH MY GOD WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO US, NOW YOU WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO SIT CROSS-LEGGED WITHOUT IT HURTING!" and I'm like, "ow".

Anywho, I'm am gonna aim for getting the first episode of Captain Tylor the Abridged Series up by the end of April, what with it being the eighteenth that leaves me a few days to get it done, I just have the last two minutes to do, and it should hopefully be done! YAY done.
Once I get past that small hurdle I'll be on to the next couple of episodes, which are less introducing characters and background plot, and more me with a tonne of ideas to get them done. And maybe just maybe I'll be able to get these out faster then the first episode(ahem 1 year+)
On the Sandhurst Academy front, which also translates to website front, updates will be resuming soon, probably mid may, at the latest, and hopefully I'll be able to shell pages out a bit faster, then what I have been currently(ahem 4 months for 1 page)
Anywho other then that, hmm, my brother moved out, my sister is getting stressed at university, and I'm doing rather well at my job, I assume I am as they don't yell at me.
Other then that, um...uh...hmmm....ah....well this is awkward, oh wait, exchange student is now staying at the house I live in again, and I cleaned up my room, so its not so much a battlefield and mroe of a living area, though my bed is a little uninhabitable at the moment, what with junk piled up on it.

Hey People(If anyone still bothers to look here occasionally at any rate)

I'm alive and stuff, my computer decided to have something resembling a heart attack, just as my website may have been hacked at some point, which was intersting, as I wasn't sure if I could recover the entirety of my website for a little bit there. Oh well in the past now.
So long story short I'm now running Windows 7 off my old beast, I recovered most of the software I had initially on the machine, but still need to organise myself to install Microsoft Office back on it, from one of the old copies my Dad has lying around,(he has something like 3 or 4 copies, all apparantly legit with watermarks and fancy coloured discs and what not)
My abridged series thing has actually seen progress finally after a long period of stagnation, the first episode is looking at 6:35 atm, and will probably be extended another 2 or three minutes, but its very close, I just need to sort out why my voice recordings atm are coming across very quiet(could just because I'm trying not to be overheard while sounding like an idiot, I'm easily embarrassed)
Comic wise, I've been drawing pages, just not putting them up, as I'm trying to get back in the swing of things, and get a better handle on my character drawingness, and I think I've seem some improvement, plus I'm also working on including backgrounds into my drawings and stuff as for a while I was avoiding drawing them as much as possible.

Hi people who may or may not read this thing that is known as a blog type thing, hmmm.
I recently updated my website, SHOCK! yes I updated my website finally after five months of waiting and guess what you get! A holiday themed colour picture done by yours truly, and two other picture things. WHOOOT!
Or not.

Anywho Updates a plenty will be occurring on the 1st of January, which just so happens to be my birthday, SHHHHH don't tell anyone ITS A SECRET! or not, anywho by updates, I mean my comic will return to its regular update schedule(a new page every weekend), at the moment I'm saying one page a week, however, if I can get my speed up well, it may be two to three pages per week.
Just gotta get back in the swing of things and all will be good. I've finally taken the effort to throw out a tonne of old books, both writing and school stuff, which I've kept for no apparently good reason, still got a tonne to get through, including a bunch of old toys and other things, but once I get all that done, MY CUPBOARD WILL BE MINE AGAIN!

In other more somber news, my dog has hit the 91 year mark, although I guess that could be seen as happy news, and my cat let a few off...and has a bad habit of missing a litter tray bigger then herself, which is sad for me cause I have to clean up the mess....

Hmmmm, on another note, my anime collection has grown so much that I can now make a massive line on the ground with it, and my manga collection occupies two shelves of my bookcase, cough* plus I bought some cough* deadpool comics(not really a fan of marvel stuff anymore) and some really expensive x-men comics, which all kinda sucked. Either were gory for the sake of gory, or just so over the top as to be ridiculous, in a way that wasn't funny or cool, or way too serious, without any real fun to it. American comics really seem to have gone the way of darker and edgier is better, way, and I'm frankly not a fan of that whole thing. Give me the variety manga and manwha gives and I'm a happy camper.

On another, not Captain Tylor the abridged series episode 1, is still in the works, its about 75% complete, sadly it took me almost a year to get a 9 minute piece of thing to 75% completion. Anyway, I may or maynot have it complete before the 1st as well, we'll see ultimately.

Anywho that's enough of my annoying drivel and prattle, go have fun and stuff!

BLARG! This is a random blurg.

I wake up in the morning, I go through the normal wake up cycle, then I get in my car and drive to work. I sit in front of my computer(broken laptop screen, and wireless keyboard and mouse, it adds character damnit!) and go through my email. I catch up on any work that came in while I was at home, sleeping or pretending to be awake, and then attempt to catch up on my over jobs. I go through two 1.25 litre bottles of pepsi max a day to keep me awake. If I'm lucky at lunch and the weather isn't wet, or too hot, I have a go at doing a short ten minute session on my current comic page or whatever else is on my mind. That or I just sit and rest, cause for the last forty minutes of my lunch I have been walking non-stop..., then I go back to work finish up the days work and go home. Then I come home sit kind of half awake half asleep and somehow in this state manage to stay up to twelve. Rinse and repeat.
That is pretty much a summary of my working week, the work's not hard it's not all that tiring and its only eight hours a day, but my habit of not being able to go to sleep till 12, thanks to bad habits, ingrained in me from Tafe, I'm trying to fix. I'm starting to get a bit more energy, and I will return soonish to weekly comicing, of course I owe close to ten or more comics, which will take me a while to catchup, but first I just gotta get this one page done, after that hurdle the rest will be easier as I get back into a routine. Same can be said for my adbridged pilot episode I've been half working on and off for the last couple of months. Inching my way along. Once I get the first one out, and see if people think I'm a weird sounding idiot guy, or actually have the occasionaly glimmer of humor, I'll see about putting out the next couple of ones. It's always hardest starting again, especially if you've taken a large break from doing something. My hobbies are the same, especially as I have more money then I am used to(I recently got a 20% raise too!), which I've been spending on manga and anime...
Man I haven't done one of these in ages! Whoo!

As proof I am still doing the drawingness, though to be fair this one is not as awesome as another one I did with Eledor center stage, with black fire around him(Unfortunately it's too big for my scanner... :(
Anywhoisit, I'm off, I guess I'll try updating here a bit more often, maybe with some new drawings and stuff, though I could always put them into my Gallery...meh anyway...

I now have a video up on my youtube account(EledorEldurn), of what was originally going to be my first abridged series, or rather the first 2 mins and a half of what was going to be my abridged series, which I also tacked on the end a trailer to what I'm currently planning on doing.

I've found so far I can actually manage a number of voices, and if you watch the youtube video, you will hear about six of them, and that wasn't including my normal voice, from my new series I have managed to find another six new voices, some which still need a bit of work before I can maintain them, as I have the problem, especially in long pieces of speech of dropping back into easier to do voices, or my normal voice.I really need to work on my process for editing the footage, of which I use windows movie maker to do it with, I have to import a video, add in sound effects(usually voices) and if I want to add in music I have to export the video, and then import it with the sound effects and add the music in, and if I wanted all of that to add in actual sound effects(like footsteps or a gun shot or something), I'd have to repeat the process again. This has a bad effect on the quality of the video, though it still comes out fairly reasonable, only picking up a few artifacts in the video normally. I think I need to upgrade to a better video editing program, or try and use flash(though I'm not to keen on that idea).

Page 14 of Sandhurst Academy is in the works and will be ready on Sunday, for viewing, as long as nothing bad happens(like some serious problem, arm breakage or stuck in bed illness). The new page will be introducing those who were talking in the last panel.

Works been going fine, though Thursday especially was a big pain, I was the only one out of our three person website team, in on the day, I had to take calls, one from an irate customer, I also took a call from a director, of the company I am subcontracted by, which was a little worrisome. And today, we had something like 30 to forty expression of interests come in, which I had to email out an info pack to, and also record that an expression of interest was put in, on our record keeping site thing. Also my speed for producing websites has slowed down considerably, mainly due to custom content, of which I am unfamiliar with becoming a bigger part of some of the sites I have worked on, its getting kind of frustrating compared to me first couple of weeks, I've only managed one or two websites a week. Can't wait when I get some customers who don't want tonnes of extras tacked onto their website. I prefer leaping into simpler websites, getting them done, as fast as I can, while maintaining a decent level of quality, and getting them out to the client, rather then spending hours on trying to figure out a simple way of implementing, what should be a simple gallery to set-up, may come from my inexperience with things like javascript(the most I do on my website, is alter a premade script which controls the buttons on my comic pages), but I believe once we have a couple of difficult ones we should be able to burn through the next lot more easily. As a group the team I'm a part of, is improving bit by bit. With me being added we have someone, who has a little knowledge(and surprisingly enough some experience) with how to make flash images and animations, though I have lost 80% of the knowledge I gained from my IT Multimedia course, due to a year of staying away from flash.

Another thing on the website front(my website not my job), I may be adding embedded youtube videos to a new section, these will be what I put up on my youtube account, but we'll see about that, also I'm planning on drawing and colouring one character portrait a week, but again, we'll see how that one pans out, the next character to be drawn will probably be Jessica(Kyosuke girl body). I really need to get a good reference picture for what will be the main character of my comic, for the next copuple of years.

Sleepless nights, and sleep filled days

Not really but anyway, two weeks in and I seem to be going pretty good at my job. My direct superior seems happy with my work output and the quality of my work. So far I've only been creating websites, and doing domain transfers and other complicated net type junk. Soon I'll be programming blackberry things, as in I follow a list of instructions to set one up, without actual programming involved.
Toughest thing is the last two hours of the day at the moment, I pull my school thing, where I start looking at the clock every five or so minutes, of course I've found the best way to eat up time is to busy myself with work.
I have a phone...that is still in its box, a laptop with a broken screen that took half of the first day to setup as we could only use one quarter of the screen, and somehow its ability to switch to another monitor had been switched off, plus I have a wireless keyboard and mouse. So far I think I've completely finished three websites, though one was more, "yeah, give it here and we'll finish it on our own"(meaning the client finished it themselves) The next required me to go through about eight or so minor changes that took several hours, until they were finally satisfied, and the latest one they took one look at it and went "yep, put er up!" which made me exceptionally pleased with myself.
I have another eight or so websites all waiting for feedback, and or more content, one wanted a six page website, and only gave me a single picture of their front page and a map of where their place is, not a lot to go on, unless they want me to start making things up about them :P.
On the comic and drawing front, I'm slowly moving to the main storyline of the comic, at the moment, its introducing the main character somewhat, and explaining the situation he finds himself in, for pretty much the rest of the comic. I've found I have some problems with proper pacing and the flow is somewhat off especially in the earlier pages, I think I'm starting to get more of a flow happening now, key word is think. This week I have something of a breather in that the next two pages don't require much in the way of my efforts for drawing them. I'm still planning eventually on fixing the Sandhurst Academy portion of the site to make it more user friendly, easier to navigate between pages that sort of thing. Plus a colour job I think suits the comic. I've also bought a bunch expensive colouring pens, and so far have coloured in three drawings, one a full body picture of an angry Dao wielding Eledor, another of a ninja girl named Motoko, and another of Emily, Eledor's daughter, a lot younger then what I normally write her as.
On the games front, I've bought World of Warcraft again...yeah I know, but to be fair, nothing else is all that interesting at the moment that my computer has any chance of running, i can't be bothered buying a PS3 or Xbox 360, and no new decent storyline games have come out recently on the Wii. I finally hit lvl 70 with my Pally though.
And I think that covers my lot in life at the moment, if you got through all that, good for you, help yourself to the non-existent buffet or something :P

Growing up one step at a time

I am now employed, full time as a web developer, thingy, And my first day is tomorrow...gonna be a huge change of pace, hope I'm up to it.
I've managed to maintain a steady output of comic pages so far, we'll see how working affects my usually fairly slack lifestyle, but I'm hoping it'll focus me somewhat, and encourage me to get into drawing more, rather then just reading other people's work.
It's interesting this idea that starting tomorrow, I'll be a professional worker, working fulltime at a job for the first time in my life, strangely so soon after I turned 21 on the 1st of January. In Australia at any rate, at the age of eighteen you have all the rights of an adult, but its still customary to treat turning 21 as a big deal, in my case it kinda was.
Of course to go with this, just before I start work, my left elbow decides to get infected, get filled with fluid and become all but unusable for the week just before I start work. Its starting to get under control, but the strangest thing about the whole thing is, I don't remember banging it, or doing anything that would cause it to get infected in the way it did...
Another thing I've been struggling to change is my sleeping habits, which since I finished Tafe spiralled ever worse and worse, to the point I didn't feel right going to bed till 3 am, and getting up at 12, on the surface it looks like I was just being lazy, but in reality I was fairly sleep deprived despite this, with occasional alnighters reading manga online. I must say its pretty much to a normal, bed by 11, though I force myself to get up at 6:30 to make sure I can have a shower before I go. So maybe I'll soon be going to be bed at 10:30 from now on.
I still owe my dad a website, but I'm hoping after I get some professional experience, ie make a website at work, that I'll be to able leap into and get it done.
So basically, starting soon, I'm gonna be a relatively independent adult, which is a strange concept, when you've spent most of your life living in a house where most things are provided for you.
Oh and I'm still a massive pepsi max addict, can't really drink tea in this heat...blurg....
And now I've started doing some short roleplaying again, this time using the gurps system, of course my cool character, got hit by a spell which makes him smell like fecal matter for the next month or so...damn you Lewis :P
Anyways, its bloody hot here, I think we've had something like 40 degree Celsius days for the last week, which is so much fun...not..

Heya folks
Okay the first two pages have gone up with nary a hitch, though the image quality for page 2 is admittedly a bit poor, I'll try and get a better version up at some point. Just gotta make sure I don't get lazy when it comes to drawing or my art will drop in quality.
At the moment I'm aiming at one page a week, until I get a decent buffer up, then I'll start putting more up a week. I've done some rearranging of the website, and am in the process of creating a new look for the Sandhurst Academy section of the website, including a bio section and a gallery.
So at the moment, I'm lagging a bit behind in my comic making, but I should be able to keep up with the current rate, until I start getting the hang of budgeting my time, and drawing faster.
As for getting a job, well let's say I have no drive, or am too scared to make the jump into job applying I'm 21 and never seriously went for job interviews in my life, plus I'm shy, which you know "really" helps when it comes to showing myself as a confident and capable individual.
At the moment I'm hoping for a web development job, but I'll settle for retail, just gotta get that old resume written up, and my hair...cut...*sniff*

Okay I've actually started doing the roughs for the first chapter of "Sandhurst Academy" though I'm thinking of changing the name to better reflect the story of the comic, I have fifteen days to get the comic ready for a proper launch, I still need to sort out my new site design for the Sandhurst Academy section, Probably something more traditional for webcomics, I still haven't decided on how many pages a week, or any of that stuff.
But yeah the start date for the comic is definitely the 1st of January which just also happens to be the time of my 21ist birthday, so I guess what better way to start the next stage of my life then with a serious attempt at a new comic, one which won't be going the way of my earlier failed attempts, Newstory, Tales, and what not.
Anywho expect some updates on my main website as I get closer to the launch date.

Progress of sorts

Okay, I've been working on getting my drawing skills of late by drawing the main characters and drawing some locales.
So in other words I'm preparing for Sandhurst Academy to start hopefully sometime in Jabuary, I'll be creating a buffer, so I won't have horribly interrupted updates and I should hopefully be working by then so I'll have cash and some spare time away from worrying about Tafe to start improving the website.
I've got 2 1/2 weeks to go before Tafe ends, and like last year, I left a lot of work till the last minute...yes I never learn lessons...
Anywho I've begun plotting Sandhurst Academy, I'm finally heading towards a main character design I'm happy with, and then I need to work on the other character designs as well, and for a large cast as this one will soon have it'll take a bit of effort.
I'm planning maybe 28 chapters, with about 20 pages per chapter, sounds a lot, but I'm not planning on doing it in colour, and I'm planning on a consistant update flow, with having the weeks pages done on the weekend or something. I'm not going reveal to much about the plot but it will be containing humour, adult themes, action, maybe some romance, drama and will be geared towards people 15 and above at the very least.
Anywho at the moment I'm just doing some practise, some refinement of the setting and research(of sorts) into how other manga go about handling themes, by research I mean occcaisionally missing a night of sleep to finish a particularily good manga.

Navigating on the seas of life

Hiya, haven't done much in the way of updating my site lately, been a bit busy all over the place, coming up with characters and deciding on character designs and storylines, while also taking the time to attempt to improve my drawing ability, while also pretending to do Tafe work, that I really should be doing...especially if I plan on getting a job, in web design or something similar.
So currently my focus is on getting Sandhurst academy...may need a different name, seems (noun) academy is quite frequently used on the interwebs.
The cast has already grown to close to twenty characters, though for the first chapter I'm only really focusing on three characters and I've started plotting out how I want to do the first chapter. I'm hoping I won't do a repeat of this year with Newstory, take so long to get new pages out that I lose the feel of the story and get sick of it, and when I do get it started, maybe in two months I'll keep to a fairly regular schedule per say. Not sure how much I want to do a week, probably will have a go at a couple of practice pages to see what speed I can produce them at.
Anywho the main character of the new comic, is named Kayden Yamada, an Australian born japanese boy, set in the fictional town of Sandhurst, which if you go look on maps, shouldn't really exist, and won't be given any firm geographic location, it's just an inland city near several lakes, though I'm gonna base it a little off my home town.
And that's it for revelations for the plot, as I draw satisfactory sketches I'll put them up on the website, at the moment I'm working on a group shot, which will feature five or more characters, needs plenty of work though still...

Right couple things to say about my webcomicing,
All three current comics are being ended for a variety of reasons, loss of interest, never was able to get myself motivated to do them, and what not.
At the moment I'm planning on doing a school based manga styled thing, as a tri-weekly thing, but I still have some bugs to work out and such with it so won't be starting till Wednesday with it.
What I'm looking at is incorporating my large list of characters, from my writings into it, so the cast certainly won't be limited by the setting, the setting will be fairly realistic, with moments of over the top action, with plenty of attempts at humour throughout(I hope)
Its gonna be full page but I'm gonna try for larger panels, still debating whether pencils or penning is the way to go at the moment, and it won't be in colour cause all I do is paint bucket it anyway...
Anywho I'm thinking I'm gonna take a break from roleplaying for a while, it was fun but I'm starting to feel the joy of creating my own worlds again without it being a game, plus I've been reading several manga's online Bleach is quite good, Naruto not as good, but it got a bit of laughter and tears from me.
And now I really need to catch up in Tafe...
yeah I've said that before...

Taking a shortish break

Right, well if people have visited my site, they would be aware I decided to take a month off from not drawing comics...wait...anyway yeah so, during this month I'm trying to catch up on a lot of work that I've gotten really far behind on. I may also try to improve my drawing somewhat(actually have a go at dare I say, practise), and maybe even build up a buffer of strips.
Also I've suddenly lost a lot of interest in Tales of the Old World, mainly because I realized one main fact, a lot of the main characters will be dying in it quite brutally as the adventure progresses. Plus I may stop colouring it and may stick to pencil for now with drawing it, I feel I'm not getting the desired look for the comic, it needs to be a lot darker, and I really need to work on my colouring skills...they kinda suck(as in paint bucket suck).
I may also get a few Newstory pages done, in the intervening time, but till November 27th I'm thinking my productivity will be going down the toilet when it comes to my comics, I've got less then three months till Tafe finishes and I'm way behind, to the point I have basically a years worth of classes to catch up on, pretty bad really, just so I can get a diploma...which will be good to have, if I can get that much work done in what time I have left.
Anywho so even once hiatus status will be revoked on September 29th, updates will likely remain fairly sporadic, I'll try to keep to three updates a week but I guess we'll see.
Thought I'd tell ya guys who do visit my site a bit more of the reason. I'll try to have one update a week in the gallery, usually two skteches.
Also on another note, I found Yugioh the abridged series, Naruto the abridged series, Yu Yuhakusho the abridged series, Lupin III the abridged series and currently my absolutely favorite one DBZ the abridged series, which is done by most of the makers of the other abridged series.
What they are is someone removes all the sound, splices together several episodes or single episodes, and add a new dub to it, acting as a parody. The scary thing is how close some of them sound to the original english voice actors and how many voices they can produce. Blah anyway, check youtube if you wanna see for yourself some of these abridged series. DragonBall Z is the best so far, as the others start of a bit shoddy before the quality starts picking up, while the DBZ one incorporates the previously learned lessons of some fairly experienced abridgers, and so goes from strength to strength. If you watched the original series and aren't afraid to laugh at them, have a gander.
If no one reads this, I'll still have a gander for when they put out new episodes.

It may take me a while but I plan to end Newstory, at some point, and I was having a hard time on settling on what I would do after it. The Tales styled comics are largely meant to be easy to draw and colour, restricting them to three panels helps with that, though Tales of the Old World is proving to be fairly complicated.
Well anywho I finally settled on a sci-fi one, using a fairly large group of characters that I know fairly well due to me having written a few stories with them in it. Also the books of backstory I wrote changed and edit continuosly.
It's kinda a sequal to another story, but they also work as independent works, due to a huge time gap between them, (3000 years).
And I'm going to go about the development of it better then Newstory, which I kinda jumped into after coming up with a fairly rough outline, and what stock characters I would have appearing in it.

I love Gundam Seed, started watching it again for some reason. I just love how there is no true bad side in the whole affair, and most characters are inherently good. Though Rau Le Crueset is truly a magnificent bastard for how he does stuff...yeah I don't really wanna spoil it for anyone who hasn't watched it yet.
I also got an anime sample dvd from a friend and watched three out of the four epsidoes on it, urhm, Basilisk, an anime which appears to be based off the same book as a movie I watched, where two ninja clans go to war, romeo and juliet style.
Mushi-shi, a really strange looking, serious yet funny at the same time anime, that has a focus on Japanese spirituality. It seems like a talky thinking, slow paced one, with little to no action, if the first episode is one to go by.
And School Rumble, one I was looking forward to watching after reading the first five manga books in the series. And it lived up to my epxectations and had me laughing for most of the 30(closer to 23) minutes of its viewing. One I'm definitely interested in getting at some point in the future.

Games are great and all, but I often find they get flat to me after a while, and if they don't have a story it get's tiresome to go back and play them, also they take a lot of time to play, the good ones at any rate(though Halo 3 wasn't half bad). Medieval II is a prime example, technology develops way to slowly for me, I wanna run around with German Zweihanders and stuff from the start, and I wish they had a story of sorts to it, other then, conquer the world to win, I mean that's been done before...(in every game in the series no less)
What I would love to see is a game on the scale of Medieval II, with levelable hero characters, with the capacity to control said characters in a battle, while also allowing for you to issue orders to your armies, and not a dynasty warrior type affair in that regard, more a soul calibur or something except against multiple opponents. With an awesome story tying it all together, I mean with how computers are advancing, this should be possible eventually...
The other problem with games, is how they demand you to play them, there's very little passivity to playing a typical American game, also sci-fi is nearly a dead genre with western games, meaning space based games, and they all end up being clones of star trek and star wars to some degree, where's a damn gundam strategy game in english!
Bah...something something, as one of my friends now annoying says, someone needs to call the WHAAAbalance for me...

Tales of the Old World

I mayn't have said much about this new comic I've started.
Basically it is based off a roleplaying game I am playing with friends, based in the Old World, or rather the Warhammer world. It follows the adventures of our characters as we do whatever it is we do.
As of yet I have yet to introduce the main character(not one of mine) who gets that title through sheer lack of dying. (I have gone through five character since the start of the game, being a heroish character in warhammer doesn't always work)
We as a group generally roleplay a bit more then the average roleplayer, but we have annoyed our GM at times, which is always fun.
Anywho, I'm gonna be glossy over some parts in the hopes of catching up to where we are as of now. I'm sticking to three panels a strip for as long as possible, but may throw in the odd larger strip if I feel it needs to be done.
I'm still working on the next Newstory page, and am hoping to have it done sometime either this week or the next, I'm eventually gonna get to some more action, and may focus on it for a little in the future.
I've also been doing some drawing, outside of comicking and one of them is one of the best pictures I have ever drawn. I will be putting it up in the gallery on Guardian universe dot com at some point this week, as well as a couple of other pictures.

What's happening

Okay I've started a new comic of sorts, Tales of the Old World, which will follow the extensive and exciting adventures that me and my friends have had in our warhammer roleplaying game.
It's going to be seperate from the Tales comic, due to some quite heavy violence that occurs in it and Tales is meant to be family friendlyish.
SO I'm going to be doing a little redesign to the Tales page

Not much redesigning I ain't prepared to tear everything down and replace it yet.
While doing TOW I will still do the occasional Tales comic as well.
And hopefully I should have a new page of Newstory up on the weekend, I may be shortening that one a little bit so it concludes quicker and I can start on the Realm or Saudes Saga, or Oda eventually.

I'm also thinking about doing some reviews of comics, though how and when is still up in the air for now(and if they would be any good)

Okay status on Newstory, I'm gonna spend a bit more time on each page, so they won't be coming out weekly at the moment, however every wednesday if I don't have a Newstory page ready I'll have a Tales comic raring to go. That's the plan anyway.
I'm kinda a semi employed computer guy for my boss, its a bit odd coming in only to fix up his computer and not slaving out on the farm. Still everytime I go to fix up his computer, from the description they give over the phone I think it's gonna be easy, then I get there and find their computer on the verge of dying.
I should really stop thinking that...

I'm still living off my parents while I'm at Tafe though so I'm not making much money the other way, what I borrow of my parents I'm gonna have to pay back at the end of the year, when I'm hopefully employed and working for someone, as a computer guy to some capacity. Preferably computer support, I could live with that for now. Though I need to expand my knowledge base on computers and problems that can occur.

Aside from that, I may eventually attempt to make some money from my drawings, but only once I'm satisfied with what I can do as an artist. So that's still a long ways off yet(couple of years probably).

Still I'm broke as a broke guy, I've been living off around $30 a week sometimes $20, which basically allows you to buy a cheap caffeine drink(pepsi max) and bread or a small amount of something warm from gillies.

I'm in thinking of starting a story to put up in the story section, that subpar work there at the moment looks very lonely every time I go onto that page. But I wanna do it right, so it will probably take me a while to get organized.

We lost a family member on Friday.
Our cat Milo, a member of our family for 14 years, was killed by a stupid person driving a stupid car, who failed to stop and remove the animal he or she had killed from the road. In Australia you are supposed to do that, and who ever hit him should have noticed, Milo was not a small cat, at 7+ kg he was in the upper echelon of size for cats.
But enough on that, we buried him shortly after discovering he was dead, due to what has happened to other animals we had lost. I broke down about fifteen minutes after the burial, in my room, I was not in a good shape for the rest of the night. I drew that picture of the old guy from a photo I had taken of him, it was a practice he routinely did, where he sat outside a door and surveyed the yard, a yard he had defended from other cats diligently for something close to 12 years. He bore many scars across his face, and had only recently lost part of his ear in another fight he got into.
He had also gone deaf, as I discovered when I was able to walk up behind him, while not being the least bit quiet and scare him. He always showed up around 4 to 6 pm for food. He occasionally interacted with our two kittens, who were quite simply in awe of this giant cat, to them at least, what with Monty being about 3.5kg, and Jazz being 2.2kg. He was also a friend of our dog Sally, though he was never fond of her way of showing affection, being licked in the face.
He also had a way of showing up when I needed a friend the most, when I was feeling especially down, or angry about something, he'd pop in and sit beside me.
Milo has been a constant in my life for more then 14 years, I have no friend who can say the same(seeing as most of my current friends were made in secondary college)
I've always been proud of this tiger of a house cat, who proudly stalked his way across his domain(our yard) uncontested, till we let Sally out of course.
He always has been an independent cat, disappearing especially in his youth for up to a couple of weeks, but as he got older he spent most of his time in our yard, sleeping in a bush somewhere, as the snake man discovered while hunting around for the snake that killed Sandro.
He even was able to say my sister's name at one point, which was possibly the weirdest thing I have ever heard.
Milo was the last remnant of my life in Mildura, all my friends I made there I've long forgotten, except for Milo. I wish a car hadn't ended his life, he could've easily lived for four or more years.
Milo was named for the film Milo and Otus, him being fairly similar in appearance to Milo the cat from that film(though our Milo was a much bigger cat). And he had a twin brother, who we named Scruffy, who was stolen from us while we lived in Mildura, by someone down the street from us.
In his youth Milo was an aggressive cat, but as he got older, he mellowed out and became a nice old cat.
I'm gonna miss the old guy.

Bleh,
I'm now debating whether to stop colouring Newstory, just as I start, and use pencil instead. To be frank my pencilling skills are much better then my finelining, I can do shading and others things with pencil that I can't with fineliner, and more often then not the draft can look superior to the finished copy, which is kinda frustrating.
Page nine for example, as it stands it looks great, (compared to earlier pages at any rate) it needs a little cleaning up, getting rid of messy lines and what not but as it stands already it looks superior to past pages and past pictures.

I'll decide what to do by wednesday, and you will be able to see what i decide to go with.

Give me a sense to wonder

I'm back to thinking I should do some altering to the current look of Guardian Universe dot com, its looked its current way for about a year, and change is always good. Also I've decided to try for a weekly update for Newstory for the forseeable future, or I need a break, and twice week update for Tales.
A typical Newstory page takes me up to 6 hours to complete, Tales on the other hand take about 1 to 2 hours to do, I can sometimes finish one like yesterday's in under 30 mins.
So we'll see if I can maintain a thrice weekly update schedule, I currently don't work so I have plenty of free time to get it done in as well.
Okay formalising the update times

Newstory, will be updated each Wednesday, full colour at around 8 o'clock east australia time.

Tales will be updated every monday and friday, full colour, and also at 8 o'clock.

If I'm late for a deadline feel free to flame me till I get it done.

Woot, or summit liek thert, page 8 of Newstory is up, I"ma actually planning on some dialogue for once in the next page coming up or not, it depends on how it goes, I'm gonna try and get back into the swing of things now that I've got page 8 done, which was a doozy cause I changed my mind about introducing a certain character who appears on the chapter page, instead focusing on the girls, I'll leave it to your imagination to figure out what happened to the two, agent...goon...guy...people...things, right I'm also going have to warn that there may be a bit of skin showing in the next page, not nudity but to be blunt Aeries will be only wearing a sheet in it.
Another thing I did while writing Newstory, was change the age of the girl Aeries's rescued, she was orginally going to be you know about six years old or something, but I changed my mind at some point, and now shes older then Aeries.
And Aeries fainting, gimmicky perhaps, but I wanted to them out of the streets and that was the fastest way I could think of doing it.
Hmmmm...aside from that I may actually get to around to putting up a new story in the story section. Also if you've got free time and nothing better to do, check out Nexus, we need more peoples, as of at the moment we have only three active posterers, myself included, the admin and a mod, so I'm the only non administration member who regularly posts once or twice a week.
Oh and everyone should read Emergency Exit one of the bestest comics I've read in a while, kept me entertained for two days, as I voraciously shot through its extensive archive. Very funny, with some action, childishness and a wide variety of characters, some you know kinda stereotypical at first till they get some character development, though one of the main leads is as a webcomic reviewer put it, batshit insane. Quite appropriate as well.
Anywhoisit, other then that check out the new page on over at guardian universe dot com, maybe have someone give me some constructive feedback, or advice or something, and I'll seeyas again, maybe on the weekend or sometime next week!

Sands and stuff

Just as I get into another world, I lose focus and concentrate on another, I think I have at least five different story worlds. And with that five different Eledor's and Aeries.
But I suddenly decided to have a look back at Saudes Saga, my first main story, also the only one with a definite start and end, important plot point, and a large cast of characters. This is one where I am more then a little cruel to Eledor, and the first part finishes on a low note.
I once tried to draw this in comic form, got three pages into it then realized my art sucked and needed work, so it led to me starting Newstory, as a means of creating a throw away storyline to practice my art. I may have jumped to soon into Newstory though, as I keep hitting walls when I go to draw it, also its hard to get back into the swing of things having taken a break for a month from drawing at all, well kinda. Anywho in that time period I believe I have actually improved somewhat, I may get rid of the Realm section on my website as well as I don't think anything will be happening there for several years at least. I've started doing something I should have done from the start, character illustrations. Basically I'm trying to organize myself better, as I've been falling off the band wagon lately, also at Tafe, possibly sleep related, as I manage most nights to only get around 6-7 hours of sleep, which means I'm usually functioning at only half capacity most of the time, although I do try to sleep in to make up for it.
I've restarted the Tales comic, to make it less focused on the farm, as I'm trying to distance myself from it and will be introducing a few characters based off friends, I'm also committed to colouring it, as it only really takes me a short time to do that. But I'm keeping all the old comics up anyway, as a reminder of some of my most early work.

Man I've been having a very unproductive month in terms of Newstory, or Tales, maybe its because of my increased focus on the Oda world, I even started writing again, which is actually a bid deal seeing as the only writing I have done recently is the stuff on Nexus.
Lately I've been feeling very bored with my current games, I've been playing Medieval II as the Russians, as they are the closest I can get to having an Asiatic team, without downloading mods that kinda ruin the balance. I don't play the Russians much as they have a bit of a hard start location, plus money troubles up to the whazoo. Basically I'm desperate for an Asian themed total war, I haven't played Shogun, but I'm dubious it'll work on my computer, as the original medieval carked it before I could even play it, just kept exiting, when I tried to make a new game, and its newer then Shogun.
Basically I'm bored of European themed strategy games, I really enjoy the total war series, and I basically want, either Shogun total war 2, or Asia total war to make an appearance.
But bah, page 8 for Newstory is giving me some problems due to me not liking how the character keeps turning out, and I'm now even debating whether I should show him, and instead keep following along with the girls. I've beenlistening to the soundtrack of Last samurai nearly non stop for the past couple of days, as its my only decent Asian orchestral music.
Another ramble was as I was coming up with some ideas for Oda, I came across an easy and good way to display the information for it, rather then put it into a lengthy word document as I was first intending to, I could make it into a website, combine it with some pictures(my own work of course), some maps, and a variety of other stuff, if get around to doing it I may add it to guardian universe.
Also I may stop the Realm for now, as a possible future comic, I haven't had much reason to work on it, and it needs a decent amount of research to come out looking good, as the main empire in it will based of the Byzantine Empire, a much more progressive Empire, but the armour and the weapons, and the general look of everything in it would be Byzantine. The current Emperor of the Realm is known as Constantine, which is a common name for Byzantine Emperors.
But I'm no history guy, just a guy who likes surfing wikipedia to much, maybe I should take up history at some point...
Anywho, my drawing hand has still been doing some drawing, though mainly character sketches for Oda, I may get then finelined and coloured, and put up in the gallery as they ain't half bad for my drawinging.

Whoa haven't blogged in a while....

Well stuff has happened I guess, I got a job interview, which I am of the opinion that I screwed up. Hmm whatelse, my driving test is arriving fast, two more weeks and it is upon me.

I have actually completed page 7 of Newstory, I've just taken an exceedingly long time to upload it, should be putting it up tonight, I'm nearly broke, but a couple jobs offered by my parents should see me through as long as I spend wisely.

And I've started planning a new DnD campaign type thing, asian based, instead of the traditional western european setting, which I have been getting tired of.
Also I really wish Creative Assemble would release a sequal to Shogun Total War, they've had four games focusing on europe time for a change.

It's set in my DnD campaign world of Ovaleen, upon the largest continent. This place has had little to no contact with the rest of Ovaleen, and those who visit named it the plains of Endless battle, due to the rapidly shifting political climate, that quite quickly led to wars that would humble any of the great wars fought in the rest of Ovaleen.
The Continent itself is a vast place, and is home to the single greatest concentration of humans on the planet, to the point that there is no other civilised race present on the continent, which is named Zhou Wei by its people. Its people are seperated into several different cultures.
The Zao the primary people of Zhou Wei, live in a collection of kingdoms, that routinely go to war with each other, some disappear, new ones form, it is a very unstable political landscape, all great lords seek to become the Emperor of the Zao. To the east are the vast steppes home to a nomadic and warlike people known as the Yuan, split into tribes, they greatly respect strong warriors and frequently invite strong warriors they face to join their ranks. They are the best horsemen of the steppes, and many fear their raiding parties. Tribes may occaisionally fight each other but not to the same extent as the Zao and Gian.
To the east the Gian, are a highland culture who are skilled sailors, they are like the Zao divided and frequently fight amongst themselves, fighting for the right to rule Gian. They live on a large mountainous outcropping from Zhou Wei, that extends out into the ocean.
To the north are the greatest mountains, and a culture very different from the warlike attitudes of those they consider lowlanders. The Quang live in a peaceful monastic society, where they seek spiritual perfection, without the worry of war, thanks to the unique defence of the very area they live in.
Off the western coast of Zhou Wei lies a large island archipelagos named Oda, made up of four large islands. The Odan a society that developed from pirate colonies into a complex and isolationistic society, that can vary from unparalleled peace to brutal violence. It's people are unique in that they have an emperor, thus making them seem a united country unlike the rest of Zhou Wei. However the emperor is merely a figure head of a country ruled by the Daimyo, various powerful clans that claim territories across the four islands, the symbol of these clans are the elite samurai. The Daimyo make war on each other frequently, with borders changing very frequently, though most of the Daimyo are of near equivalent strength.

Still needs a lot of work, and if you couldn't tell is based off real world asia.
But I've had a lot of fun working on it so far. ...I know I'm a nerd.
I gotta say programming ain't that hard...when I can concentrate on it, I think I spent nearly 3 hours today out of a six hour class, chatting to friends on Gmail, I'm also really enjoying doing php, as first of all, it gets immediate results, the book is much more structured then the java book, with easier to follow questions.
I think I'm falling behind a little with the networks subject, mainly due to the hardware lab, getting messed around with by Cert IIIs, before we go in, and then we have to figure why all our connections need to be redone...GAH!
Then we have project management, which is okay, but mostly consists of us sitting around and listening to our teacher tell us stories from his vast repertoire of experience, surprisingly I feel that I learn a lot from these classes.

Anywho I'll probably update Newstory tonight, and get a couple of Tales comics up, sometime later this week, fully coloured of course.

Slightly frustrated yes I am...
Anywho page six of Newstory has been pushing my drawing skills, and writing skills, the main problem is I always gloss over the points where the fighting ends, so I have one sentence that in practice turns into a full page on its own, or at least half a page. So yeah that part where I said several pages done, hasn't quite happened. But but, this page doesn't look too shabby so far, so I am getting better, which is a good sign, and me facing these problems now is better then later on when the story gets a whole lot more complicated.
I have at least three major fights planned in this comic, and this one ain't one, so better now that I face problems with how I write the script now then later on when things can quickly become a mess.
Anywho page six may be done sunday, I've come to the conclusion that I'll put the update times of Newstory, when it's done, rather then trying to set up a time and then failing miserably. What's it been now a month since an update?
Other then I'm gonna eventually start advertising my website on Nexus, but also at the moment Nexus is looking dead, so if people wanna join and write up a storm with others then please go do so. We need people who are more active then me!
Anyways, I've spent that last two weeks being remarkably unproductive, seriously I think I've done less then a rock.
My room is still an ungodly mess, currently without curtains...and its cold...and bright in the mornings. I have been pretty good concerning the pets, but I think I need to take a break from my computer...actually tomorrow will be a non-computer day...we'll see how long I last..I may even get page six done finally, and start on page seven, and then eight, now that would be a sight to behold!
May even get some of the fence done for Mum and Dad, I'm supposed to be getting paid for it so why not, I don't have work at the moment, and I'm not sure I want to go back to the farm, I think five years is enough.

Whoa I haven't blogged in a month!

Anywho I've been taking a bit of time off of drawing Newstory, to practice a little bit, and finalize another character's design who will be entering the comic soonish. You can see some examples of what I've been doing with my new profile image.
Anywho I'm now on holidays, and if all goes well I might try and get several pages drawn over the the coming fortnight, I said several there, not just a couple. As long as I don't allow myself to get to distracted.
Other then that I'm also posting on a Role Playing forum, which the link is above Guardian Universe, so if you want to check out some of my writing, I'm going by the same name I use for most things there, so it shouldn't be to hard to find me.
I'm also planning on doing some Tales comics at some point.

Other then that, I'm gonna start redesigning the Newstory and Tales pages to be better organised, currently they are a bit of a mess.

So's I passed my hazard perception test, got told I suck at perceiving threats even though the video I was forced to watch was only at like 200pixels for an entire 16 inch screen, shadows were like black ominous holes you couldn't see under, and motorbikes were able to hide behind vans with relative ease(though I guessed that one)
Meh crappy quality tests aside I got Wednesday off this week due to a teacher phoning in sick, unfortunately I didn't find out till I was sitting out side the room in the morning with limited to no means of getting out of town and back home.
I gotta say my teachers are all good, though I still haven't met one of them, my programming teacher. Also my course focuses on web design, networking, programming and more project management(*sigh), also I have a friend this time in this class who more then knows a lot of computer stuff being a completed 2nd year computing university student and all that.
Comic news, page four will be up on Saturday, probably as soon as I finish it, and I will start doing page five shortly after. Page five is fairly action heavy so I'll see how I go with that page, I'm very certain as I start to get a little better I'll get faster as well, also I'm planning on updating the main character's look soon as I work on it, as I was able to finally borrow out the books that helped inspire me to start drawing Newstory, and well start drawing as it had some of the best example pictures I could possibly ask for. I've also borrowed out a how to draw martial arts in manga type book thing, so it will hopefully help as well.
When I get more proficient at web design I will work on making the proper Newstory page rather then what I currently have.
Computer news, I finally upgraded my old 17' LCD monitor for a brand spanking new 20' widescreen, only problem is my graphics card seems to only support up to 1280 by 800 resolution, when the monitor itself can go up to 1680 by 1050, so a little annoying.
Car news(geez I got a bit of this news ting), I agreed to purchase my parents 2005 holden commodore equip at the end of year, when I will hopefully have a job(better then the farm) somewhere and be earning money of some sort.
So I currently owe my parents for the new monitor and I will be owing them for the car. I don't have any money and I'm already agreed to be in debt for $14000 by the end of year, add onto that my $6000 HECs fee, and well 20K is a great figure to be owing by the end of the year.
whoa more figures...um fix that with some random nonsense of some...damn got nothing
Oh and Mortigi what's the maximum bandwidth that's allowed for the server?(not that I even dent it)

I missed another update time thingy, its annoying, but I really have had a bit of trouble with the latest page (and its only page four) but anywhos, I'm hoping I don't make a trend of these fortnights to do one comic in, I vwanna get better at the drawing, better at the pacing, better at the narrative so I'm bound to hit a few hurdles and stuff as I start, and I really wanna hit about a page a week or even two, I know I could if I put more effort in and spent more time on my drawing, but yeah real life sucks.
I started my course today, and so far it looks like it's either going to be very fun, or mind numbing in its complexity, but hey that's how I like it...I guess, and doing well in this course may well allow myself to get a decent job out of it.
Also I have organised my hazard perception test, so I can start working towards getting my license, and hopefully get it before they bring in the dreaded green P. Here's hoping!

I got into my course, one wave of my cert IV results and they basically went right where's the money...or something like that anyway. So long story short I still have to enroll but I'm in the course!

On other news I've decided to wait till Saturday to update Newstory, sorry if anyone was waiting for it, I made a couple of things saying yeah it'd be up, but never got round to it. My sister's leaving for University soon and my brother is planning on moving out sometime this year, so I may be home alone...with the folks...it'll mean less to distract me I guess, but gee it's going to be boring without them here...
Also works about ready to finish for the season, which means I'll become broke pretty soon if I don't fix my spending habits, and due to the schedule for my course i won't be able to work even if I want to at the farm(right...like that will ever happen) so hopefully I'll be able to get a job after finishing this course, I mean a diploma has to count for something towards getting a job, and I do have a cert IV in project management as well.

I'm seriously considering adding a review section to my website as well, so I can properly recommend visiting some webcomics and playing some games, and avoiding others, though I might not start reviewing webcomics till Newstory is a bit more established, ie. more then 2 or three pages more like 30 or something.
Other then that well I've got nothing so visit my website if you haven't already and have a quick glance around.

Newstory

My main comic has now been started and put up, Newstory.
The purpose for this comic, is really to act as an experiment and as a way for me to learn a bit about what works and what doesn't. Also to challenge myself artistically with each page. With each page I'll try to do something different, different camera angle, different posture for a character to be in and hopefully a general refinement of character looks and appearances.
I'm also aiming to create a buffer for this comic, so that I shouldn't have any trouble updating it from now on. Also one friend has offered to colour it in with pencils, so I may have coloured versions going up as well.
I'm still planning on going back to Tales From the Lettuce Patch, with as I believe I have previously mentioned a story me and a friend wrote together, that sorta takes the path of one person the other writes something, and is basically an extended conversation similar to what me and my friend did during secondary college, though we never wrote those down.
The advantage of this and the problem I faced with the original Tales, is that it gives me a ready made script that I have to adapt to comic form, rather then my original practise of trying to come up with something remotely funny on the spot while in the middle of drawing the strip.
I do storyboards for newstory and have a basic summary of what happens in each chapter, though I am currently thinking of expanding it to 6 chapters long (150 pages)to stop it from going to fast for a reader to follow.
I'll get around to finishing the Newstory homepage at some point.

On other news I have a second round interview for my course now, so I still will most likely get into it, as long as I present well during the interview. Though with a Cert IV under my belt I should be able to get in easily. Oh and I am now a Certificate IV IT multimedia specialist, and a certificate IV project manager. I may have to cut my hair for this interview, or at least get it trimmed. I'm rather fond of having my hair long well at least longish, as you can tell if you read Tales From the lettuce patch, most of the time I portray myself with long hair.
Anyways other then that, work is really starting to hurt, you have four people doing spring onions over a period of 3 hours.
If they can mange 40 an hour each that's 160 an hour, over three hours they should have done, 480. Instead they had done 250 after me and my sister had spent 3 to 4 hours cutting zucchini, we were pretty much ready to go home and be done with work for the day. Instead we ended up slaving away for another four hours on the bastard plants, I can deal with Zucchini or Spring Onions, not both at once, thats pushing me too far...however with zucchini an average load gets back on average maybe $300 but costs in employee costs around $250
Each spring onion costs around 90c to $1.10 if a worker can churn out 40 an hour they are more then covering their own employment costs.
Then you bring lettuce into the equation.
Ten bins of lettuce is about $1000, that can take up to two hours to do with eight workers depending on the crop being harvested, some times can take an hour, each employee costs about $12 an hour (this is an average due to large age gaps in some workers) thats $96 to $182 in labor for a $1000 dollar deal, add into that the costs of planting and maintaing said plants, say around $400 and you still have a net profit of $400 to $500 dollars.
With the math in place lettuce are obviously the best vegetable to harvest money wise, and kids as young as fourteen can be taught how to pick them, which saves a huge amount in employee costs.

Well I went off topic there, five years on the job and you think I've learnt nothing? Bah to that, I also end up being the leader when FC or the great boss isn't around, due to having five years of experience and a bit of an idea how to manage other people. I've also had some limited teaching experience.(around 20 days)

Great I just found out I missed entry into the course I wanted by a month...
So either I find another course I can do, or I go out and get a job...
Well maybe I needed this break from education and stuff...
Means I can concentrate on getting my drivers license, I guess, and getting a better job maybe.
And can focus on getting my comicing skills up
I'm supposed to have a cert IV in IT multimedia and Project Management so I'm hoping that actually means something...
Anyways the only trouble I'm having with Newstory at the moment is actually sitting down and working on it, I've planned out the next ten or so pages and have planned out the main storyline. Its supposed to go for about 100 or so pages, and I'm thinking of putting it into chapters.
The first chapter won't look to great but I'm hoping by the final chapter (4) that it will look reasonable, after which I will be starting the Realm, which has a much more developed storyline and a much larger cast.
Newstory is meant as a way for me to practice and develop my skills.
Anywho I'm going to try and see if I can still get into the course, though enrollments for it closed a month ago, I mean its Tafe not some university, I may get lucky, if that doesn't work guess I'm looking for a part time job, something to do with computers hopefully, IT support or something would be good.
Now to see how my dad reacts to this piece of news...

Oh well life goes on, the bright side is I may be getting my license soon and a new job, down side...um I'm getting a part time job and won't be a student anymore...

And just so you know I've been heavily distracted from doing much by reading other webcomics and playing a couple of games I got recently and World of Warcraft as well...

I was about to fill up my dog's water today, when as I was walking to a tap, I heard a rustle of grass, still worried about the clan of huntsmen I looked down, lack forked tongue...head lifted off ground, scaled head.
Yep snake...I backed away quickly and nearly ran back inside, where upon me and my friend immediatly began looking up snake catchers. I'm afraid of Huntsman because of how they look, I'm afraid of brown snakes cause they can kill. I know snakes, I've read enough books on the buggers to know a bit about their general behavior and what they look like, and how aggressive and venomous a snake can be. I'm glad it wasn't a tiger snake, it may have tried to chase me, they are agressive buggers.
Anywho still waiting for the snake man to show up, I'll let ya know when it is removed, this snake may have been Sandro's murderer, but I ain't willing to go after it, cause I don't want to be bitten.
I just hope it doesn't go near Sally, while she would tear it to bits, she would more then likely get bitten in the process.
This all happens on a day when people who have dealt with this problems before were in Aubury and my brother was at work. Oh well.

I hate spiders....especially big ones, like Huntsman spiders, its even worse when they are in a colony of 12 or more...I freaked when we were pulling apart a fence out behind our dog's yard when 12 of the big buggers just appeared, I can deal with most other spiders, heck I tolerate small colonies of daddy long legs , but huntsmans and wolf spiders just scare the hell out of me...
*shudder*
I have phantom crawls now...(you know imaginary feelings of being crawled on by lots and lots of spiders)
I use to love spiders, then dad chucked a huntsman skin on me, and I don't think I've ever fully recovered...
Anyways...I love our dog, she's getting on in years, but she's one healthy as hell dog despite that, I just hope she's able to deal with the spider menace better then I can, they crawled into her yard I think...

I'm thinking about doing some optimization of GuardianUniverse.com, such as changing the main page for Tales From the Lettuce Patch, and putting direct links to each comic on the index page.
As the Tales Page is fairly cluttered in appearance, (in my opinion anyway) I've just gotta sought out an appropriate design for it, its also very bland, so I was thinking of putting up some coloured images, and give it, it's own menu bar instead of having text links, like I currently do.
Yeah so a little upgrade is planned for certain sections of my website, they will happe of course when they happen.
I've drawn the rough version of the first page of Newstory, but before I put it up, I need to design a front page and I've written part of the script for the firs chapter. So I can get started on making the whole thing, pretty darn soon.
My sister can be really cruel sometimes, I help fix her car for an hour, go on a trip with her for an hour so she can get replacement parts for it, and then she refuses to drive me to the supermarket, which is on the way home, which is the way we were travelling in, so then I have to walk to the supermarket, in close to 30 degree(centigrade) heat, carry home three bags of stuff, my house is about several hundred metres away from the supermarket, so it was a fairly long walk back through the heat...
Bah, anyways I don't think my sisters getting anymore help with her car from me, just not worth the effort, just so I could get treated like crap at the end of the whole ordeal.
Anyways, comics on the go, Tales update sometime tonightish and I intend to keep on practising so that I can get better, may start another comic soon, similar to Tales based of a collaborative written work I did with a friend in secondary college. It won't make much sense though... :)

I have passed, at least I think I have!
Cert IV in IT multimedia, cert IV project management!
I have qualifications! Well not yet, but they should be in the mail!

So basically I'm off Tafe now, so I can focus a bit more on improving my drawing and enhance the quality of my current comic making. Also I can finally start Newstory, a comic which I said I would be starting way back in June, July.

Man baby kittens can be annoying, but I guess I have to suffer through it till they get older and calm down a little.

Jazz and Monty

Soon after Sandro died me and my brother went and purchased two kittens, separately from two different places.
The cute little fuzz ball that is Monty, a ginger top with white under belly and legs, who was barely old enough to be sold. He is a great big whiner, but he's very cute. He's my brother's cat that he bought on the day of Sandro's death. A mini Milo, to a degree, and he's terrified of brooms...
And Jazz a sleek 7 week old girl kitten, before I got her she was spayed, and she's still healing from the operation. She's a very talkative cat who loves jumping on people and nuzzling their faces, though she also has a tendency to perch on people's shoulders.
Monty and her make a great pair.

But one of the things I noticed about the kittens is invariably how we compare them to Sandro, Jazz has his energy and athleticism while Monty has his gluttonous tendencies. I kinda doubt I get over Sandro's loss for a little while yet, the kittens help to remind us of him, and the fact that he is gone.
I still really want to find what killed him and bash it with a shovel.

One more assignment to go and I've got a cert IV in IT Multimedia!
I've already got a cert IV in project management, so I'm now legally qualified to run a project as a project manager, I also have a cert II in hospitality, this year I've gotten more qualifications then from the three years I spent at uni and VCE, and I've also become a much more confident artist, though I have a long way to go, I'm also trying to get my writing back into shape, so that I can at least write a decent storyline for a comic. You don't use a talent properly for three years and you notice where you've slipped. I've also found a good percentage of old stories of mine I wrote and I'm planning on adding them to the story archive on the website, when I get some time to do so.

Every exam period I have either suffered terrible hay fever or caught a nasty cold, imagine doing exams which require clear thinking when you have to worry about your nose running like a tap, your throat is sore from coughing, and your head feels or stuffing, its hard to remember things, its part of the reason I hate exams, the second I stress out the sooner I get sick. It happened at Uni it happened in VCE, it even happened in year 10, and its happened to me now, as deadlines rush in on me for handing in my work.

But meh, I get to rest soon and that'll make me feel a lot better, I can get into drawing again without having TAFE work looming over my head and I can finally start promoting my website online, (through free means of course)

Sandro you were with us for such a short time...

Today I was woken to the discovery that Sandro our cat of a year had been discovered dead by my sister when she arrived home this morning. Snakebite is suspected as the cause, but we ain't doing a post mortem to discover the cause, in fact we buried him an hour after discovering his death. Too many times have we waited too long to bury a pet and had maggots eating their corpses.
This is the first pet that I've lost recently and well lets just say it was one of the rudest wake up calls I've had in a while. The strange bit was I had a dream that was very similar to this, a couple months ago, as I was worried about neighbours killing him, due to his inexperience. To the snake that quite possibly murdered Sandro I feel a deep hatred. I'm arachnophobic not whatever the term for snakes is. I just hope our resident kowarongs(bush magpies) got it, I was very relieved to find our 13-14 year old cat Milo hadn't been got as well, and our dog Sally was fine as well. I don't know what I'd do if lost either of them.
At the moment, I am feeling great melancholy as I loved that cat, we may have had him for only a year but I will miss the poor guy, though I only knew him for a year, I'll miss the way he attacked my shoe covered foot when I put it in front of him or the way he yowled so he could be let out do go do his business. But most of all I'll miss the fact that I won't see him grow old, Given good care he could've been around till I was forty, and he would've been a good way to get over the inevitable deaths of Sally and Milo in the future, they are both getting well into their old age. My brother dealt with the loss in his typical practical if heartless manner, replace Sandro with a new kitten so he doesn't have to deal with the grief. And now I want to buy my own cat, a black cat, maybe not with the same unique coat that Sandro had or the same breed and I'll probably get a girl cat as well, but I'll miss my little buddy still...

Hi peoples, haven't blogged in a little bit, I've been thinking what else I could do with my website, and one of the ideas that I came up with was doing reviews of games, anime and movies I've seen.
But that would be for a later time, I seem to draw best when I'm at Tafe less distractions I guess, and when i'm home I'm always getting distracted by my brother my computer, or our various consoles, or I have to help dad around the yard, digging out fence posts, let alone the fact that I feel guilty for not doing my Tafe work. So instead of drawing, writing or doing homework I end up playing computer games...maybe I need to take a short break from them, spend it writing and drawing, working on character designs, or just get my homework done so I can feel relieved in having everything handed in. At the moment I'm the only person in my course who looks even close to getting a cert IV in IT multimedia...
And I've settled on doing a diploma of IT at Tafe next year, which should get me qualified enough to get a job as IT support in most places...fun.
One of my friends just recently had his first child, so congratulations to him and his wife, and we went to a baby shower for the new family member today, me and my brother providing a large stuffed wombat and diary of a wombat by Jackie French. Though we kinda forgot to wrap it for them... :)
I do believe I'm a caffeine addict...been having way too much caffeinated drink over the past year and a bit, having money a large stomach and family members with licenses really doesn't help me attempt to kick the habit either.
I also need to sleep more, and now that I only have two days of Tafe a week, I get to sleep in more, which is a plus, though parents will be expecting me to help out around the house more, fair enough I guess...
Current anime I'm watching are:

Inuyasha (Some episodes it drags but when its good its awesome!)
Black Cat (The end got a bit hard to follow)

Woo, I got work, nearly twenty hours a week, possibly more, what I mean to say is the lettuce patch has started up again, and I am unlucky enough to be completely free the next two weeks.
Anywho which means I will have a good amount of money earned up by the end of the holidays, of which I can start saviog and putting it somewhere safe.
I've started the first Newstory strip, its going to be done in a four panel type format like Tales from the Lettuce Patch till I get to where I originally planned to start the manga thingy. I may have it done by the weekend, and up.
Geez I'm nakkered, this is the first time I can say I have worked ten hours in one day, well monday, the order was 1000 bunches of spring onions and 250 cabbage.
1 tonne of cabbage
And two bins metre cubed of spring onions.
And I've got the same number to do tomorrow as well as lettuce planting...
Well busy day tomorrow...

Anyways I'm thinking of starting a kinda of story to TFtLP eventually, more as a way to practise story telling techniques and dialogue with it then anything ground breaking(like I could even try)
Oh and I just heard that one of my favourite authors just died without finishing the final book in his book series(well actually I heard it last week but anyway)
I started reading Robert Jordan's Wheel of time series back in grade six, and it really influenced the way I (try to) write.
So in a way those were the first real fantasy books I broke my teeth on, other then the ones read to us by my teacher.
So in closing I've got places to go, many areas to improve upon, and a fan base of two people visiting my website each day, so I think I've got soemthing going on here

Rightio first off I've started doing Tales From the Lettuce patch again, this time in a new easier to draw in format, the panels are no longr hand drawn.
Anwyays, currently I've decided to set TFtLP up as a once a week fair, this is to give me time to work on the other projects I'm working on.
These projects are the Realm manga(well atempt at manga), which I have decided to give a sporadic update schedule as the pages are much bigger then any of the other comic strips content wise, and I may not get one done a week, I might set it up to be once a month type of update.
The other comic strip I've got in the making, is Diaries of a drifter, it will be set in the same world as Newstory but will be several years earlier.
The other project I'm planning on doing is changing a story(term used loosely) which my friend Brendan and I coauthored into a comic, the main characters are going to be Simy from TFtLP and another character to represent my friend Brendan's character in the story. It will be extremely strange and random!(here's hoping I can draw it)
I'm also planning on updating the stories section at some point, with a sequal of sorts to Jake's little adventure, which I haven't started planning yet. It's a parody of one of my story worlds.
And I may start trying to write the Realm as well, to keep pace with the manga, thingy...
Also I have that game I'm going to hopefully have done by Friday to put up as well, which I will try to keep updating and improving upon.
Other then that, I'll be performing little updates here and there, and may even eventually start trying to advertise Guardianuniverse.com a little on the net, by joining some of those forum type things.

I've been really tired all week, so in short progress on the new Realm comic, is a page and a 1/2, I've planned out a basic storyboard of the next nine pages and I've been working on the primary character illustrations.
Characters in the Realm
Eledor
Aeries
Finn
Arden
and a few others but those four are the primary characters I'll introduce in the first chapter.
Oh right for the Realm comic I'm planning on going for a chapter length of around 25 pages. I doubt the quality will be that great, I'm still learning at the moment. But my brother has actually started giving me some decent criticism of what I've I've done so far, which is helping more then he probably knows.
Anyways, if all goes well I'll have the first three pages up and ready to go up next weekend.
I'm also planning a different kind of comic, that I'm working on the ideas at the moment, I'll let you guys (however many are left be the judge of how good it will be when I eventually put that one up to.
I love Youtube, found some of Iron Maiden's live performances, and I've gotta say they are awesome live, the energy these old guys have is scary. Bruce the singer scales the scaffolding surrounding them at one point, climbs about five metres before he starts pointing out to the crowd leaping around on a small platform, then manages to get down in time to deliver his singing lines.
Even my sister thought they were pretty impressive, for the five seconds she watched them...(more a punk fan)
Anyways, I'm trying my drandest to get better at drawing, I still can't do decent looking 3/4 views of characters, so don't be surprised if I stick to profiles fron and back views of characters, and I'm not to good at drawing hand yet either, though I'm getting better.
Other then that, I'll update the site tomorrow, and next weekend I should be putting up my flash game as well, it should be done by then. I'll put it in the random stuff section when I do. Now I really need some sleep...

Okay's I think I'm going to scale back TFtLP to one comic a week, seeing as I have more time to spend on each one I may try and colour them as well...
Anyways the reason for this is I've started watching TV again(the greatest of all evils) and my brother recently bought an expensive keyboard with the ability to make fairly epic sounding music...also TAFE has decided to plop the job of writing a twenty page feasibility report on my shoulders, and I need to start doing programming tutorials from home, so that I can make zee games that I'm making in my course.
One is a 2d side scroller flash game, that I will try and incorporate some story comics into, based of my Return of Ruin Storyline(the one with mechs and spaceships) the other is a 3d game based of the opening of the Surudush Campaign(The one where Eledor walks into a city and kills mercenaries who slaughtered the entire population of said town)
SO far I have a basic setup for the Flash game, I know what I want to do for it, I just need to start pumping out some content for it, the 3d one is far more complex requiring the use of a game engine, and if anyone tells you modeling a person in 3d is easy kick them for me...
Anyways other then that I think from now on I will have an update every Saturday for the website, though as I am supposedly out of work for nine weeks, I have mondays free to do extra stuff, and yes Brendan I will try and fit in some more gamework for ya.

Hellos peoples from that place somewhere...
Anyways I've been very slack with my comic strips over the past two weeks, but then I spend at least an hour and a half of my free time over a period of four days watching anime, and because I'm extremely lazy I don't get around to it...anyways today marks an important step in my Tales from the Lettuce patch, from now on I will completely fineline each strip, which means I can more easily colour them in if I so choose.
Other then that not much happening, though I do have to do a 20 page feasibility report , design a 3d game, complete with 3d models, design a flash game, complete with action script...and have to make a film which I can edit, and people are still dropping like flies from my course...Though some are moving onto bigger and better things, others just couldn't be bothered turning up...
Anyways I ain't quitting yet, I'm starting to think that I need to do some upgrading to my computer, I mean its only got a 120GB hard drive on it...(I know it sounds big but when you combine music, videos, lots of games, 250mb patches for said games, it starts looking quite small), and a 256mb graphics card.
For that I need money, so I figure I need to save money, better then I have currently because my current efforts of saving money has thus far been pretty piss poor...

Didn't much like the white I had going there for a couple of weeks so I changed the template back to the original, it looks better even if I ain't a poetry spouting goth like the one in the template example picture...and if you have no idea what I'm talking about...uh keep reading, cause I'll stop talking about that.
Haven't blogged in a little while, I gotta say Torquey was kinda fun, did a bit of drawing, none of it was landmark OMG I drew this! type stuff though, more just practising by copying pictures from the drawing for manga book I had and altering it a little, I did draw two decent Aeries's pictures and a decentish group picture of the main Newstory cast, which I'll get around to putting in the gallery on my website.
20 comic strips...I have offically done twenty comic strips and have had three hundred visits to Guardian Universe.com and my site is about two months old now, since it has been at its new server location.
I'll try to write something passable and start a small short story or something, but currently, I'm either at work at Tafe or playing old games on the gamecube and compy that I never got around to finishing, or just drawing so I guess I will just have to make the time if I want to write some more stories for my website.
Currently I ain't expecting to start the Newstory manga till several things come to pass;
1. I become a much more effecient and skilled artist
2. I get proper drawing pens, with nibs and indian ink
3. I sort out character designs so they aren't just a rehash of someelses work
4. I write the script for Newstory

Currently I have actually done a "very" rough draft of the first story page of Newstory, so I have an idea on what I want to happen in it.
Tafe is as interesting as usual, three people showed up today, myself included, we did Flash for 1 and half hours, then did some theory on game genres, I as usual wrote out a rather overly worded bit of work, but then again, I'm here to impress the teachers there with my knowledge, and I ain't gonna fail this year! I swears it on the graves of fifteen bananna trees from Brisbane may they rest in peace...

I'll be going to Torquee soon, about a day in fact, so I'll be putting a filler image up for TFtLP. A whole week at a beech town in the middle of winter!
I'll be drawing for a lot of it, and hopefully will have a little buffer ready at the end of it. Like six or so TFtLP strips, two weeks worth, and I'll probably have some more gallery pictures for Newstory.
On another note I've been playing Oblivion near non-stop, its strange when you come across a single player game that has the longevity of a MMORPG, I've barely scratched the surface of all the side quests you can do, I've restarted my character and I'm thinking about attempting a short comic on Oblivion and the character I'm using...
Anyways if I do that I'll put it up in the random stuff section or just add another section to the comics homepage.
On another note I really should clean my room up, its been messy for nigh on three months now, which is bad in anyones books.

I finally put my website up!
Aside from the feedback system though, ended up not working because it performed a forbidden function or something.
I've been playing Oblivion recently and have downloaded a couple of mods for it, it's surprising just how much they can add to a game you were getting bored of.
I've currently got a mild but painful cut to the joint of my middle finger on my drawing hand, and a terribly cramped right leg, so I'm in peachy condition!
Anyways other then that, I'm on holidays now, officially and I'll be going to Torquee on Saturday this week, till Friday I think.
ANyways hope everyones lives are going well, I haven't heard from some guys in a while...

Transformers is AWESOME!

That was easily the best film I've seen in years, sorta of how the first X-Men came across, and maybe the matrix...
But anyways I was a fan of the original cartoon, and have watched just about every single series they have put out recently.
The action scenes were awesome, Optimus Prime marched on stage and dominated the screen, and he has his original voice actor from the orginal series. The music is pumping and powerful when the Autobots are at it, and the deceptacons are all sharp and pointy, watch it and you will understand.
Bumblebee is not a VW, but then if you watch the latest series Bumblebee was replaced by HotRod, so it comes across as awesome still the car he emulates.
And who ever said humans can't defend themselves, from giant robots. Throughout the film you get a glimpse of what America could be capable of doing in a full war, and just how useless a tank could be versus a giant walking machine.
Anyways I just thought I better post this up, since the film was just so god dammed awesome!

Artists block, combined with laziness, and an ddiction to webcomics, makes me not very good at holding to a schedule...
Anyways My website will be properly ssetup on Friday, the new setup will look aawesome! And professional to...though I wish my drawing skills were a little better.
Anyways holidays are coming up for me, and I'll try and get a lot of practise over that period so that when I come back from Torquee or however you spell it I'll be able to impress with better art skills. Though drawing skills are not improved overnight...wish they were, would make my life so much easier...
ANYWAYS I'll try to get a strip done today, and see what I can find for inspiration for my next one on friday.
On a more serious note, I'm brilliant...brain power wise, if given a bit of instruction and an assignment to do I rpoduce quite high quality work, however over the years I have developed a very lazy attitude, I'm still freakishly intelligent but I'm too lazy to use it...I could've got up in the ninties for an enter score if I had tried but I just coasted and got a smooth 74, and when I did teaching I could've got A's and really astonished my teachers if I had've put more effort into everything, admittedly I wasn't in the best condition for doing hard work, after my brother got diagnosed with a brain tumor, and was operated on, and for periods of time after he got better I just sat when I should've been going to lectures, mindlessly surfing the internet for obscure facts I didn't need to know. I know I'm smart but if I don't use it can I really say that I am?

Hi folks, 12 comic strips and I am showing a slight improvement in my drawing capabilities, though my backgrounds still need a lot of work, doesn't help that I get lazy with them...
Anyways I've been handed my new site in all its glory, now I just have to familarise myself with all the coding...About ten or more pages worth in fact, and then I've gotta learn how to actually use it and then upload it so that it works properly without confusalising me or anything.
Update schedule is as follows, Tue-Wed-Fri for now, I might up the anti at some point but I try to give what spare time I have on thursdays to working on Newstory character art, and trying out different attempts at drawing backgrounds, with characters in them, maily using Eledor as I'm the most familiar to drawing him, afterall I've drawn him for nigh on six years now...
My friend's having his sixth massive LAN party soon, and that looks like it will be fun...as long as my brother doesn't get angry, nothing good ever comes of that...
Anyways other then that I may try and write a story, nothing to do with the Guardian Universe I think but something different, I feel like doing that...
Anyways we have now thrown out our script for our filming, as we realised we need all ten people on the ball to do it, and unfortunately we in reality only have six regulars, so now its Unreal Tornament the film! And yes I'm one of the four guys acting in it, though I would like to help with placing the camera and all that jazz.

Right anyways, TFtLP comic will be up some time tonight, and I think this one is currently my best looking comic strip OF ALL TIME, well for now anyway.
We did some filming today, spent 2 hours to get 2 and 1/2 minutes of actual footage. Others annoyed the teacher, while I got a chance to act!
Of cource next week I'll look at it and go, "WHO's that idiot in the green jacket?" then everyone will point at me... :(
Anyways I'm Christian but not a serious Christian, I don't go to church, haven't in ages, I find it too boring.
If anyone read any of my earlier stories I frequently had angels as main characters in my fantasy stories, even Eledor at one point was an angel, when he was a lot more kid like and far less mature.
And the Saudes Saga has angels in it to, though they only appear in it irregularily, and you'll have to look for them, if I ever write that one up.
Anyways I figured I might write a little about what Tale from the Lettuce Patch is supposed to be, a semi autobiographical look at my current life, and those around me. And if any friends ask I may put them in at certain points, you're all funny in your own ways!

Whining time!

You know what's been really cheesing me off this past week.
My course, its not the teachers, its not the actual subject matters of the course...its the other students. I can respect that some have work and other unaviodables...BUT...there are limits.
On wednesday, in the morning we had around ten or eight students in the class, I keep losing count. By the afternoon we were down to two, me and another guy. It wasn't the teacher she was just trying to treat us students like responsible adults. I mean when half the class is over 20 you'd expect them to be responsible. BUT...again this class has serious problems when it comes to maturity. Also more then half are FPS gamers. This may not seem important, but I consider myself an RPG and RTS gamer, more cerebral generally, requiring a lot more thought, then twitch actions, and generally having far less graphic violence involved in them. One guy blatantly posts up wallpapers of his favourite death metal band, with such memorable quotes as "leading the war against Christianity" I consider myself a Christian even if I'm not the most devout of followers, and I can respect other peoples decisions to believe in different things, but that kind of message really irritates me, and makes athiest look like violent religion hating fanatics, who can't respect other people's rights to believe in what they choose.
Buh almost dug myself a hole there anyway, that's just one guy who annoys me...I just don't like his wallpaper or his choice in music. Anyways enough on that and I wrote a pretty good ending for the film we are doing...but they decided to condence it, throw away 90% of what I wrote and not even look at how difficult some of these things would be to film...
We have a car chase in our film, we have never used a blue screen before, I don't know, we may be just digging a hole to make a crap film run virtually by one guy who isn't me, who will be doing 75% of all the acting, wrote the script. I'll do my best to make sure we do well, but now I have at least six lines in this film, when I only intended myself to have one line...(might try and fight that on tuesday)
Anyways that's enough about my course...

My good friend Brendan has been busy down in panda ville, (the foods good this time of year) making a very cool and professional looking website for me for free!
It will be up soemtime next weekend for your viewing pleasure, but I can tell you it looks fifty times better then my current setup(Not that that's not hard)
Anyways I will endeavour to do three strips this week, there's tonnes of stuff I could do, and may get a couple of good ideas at the farm tomorrow, by gods i have to work with the new guy tomorrow...I don't like him much, a standard hoon if ver there was one...

Alright I've hit five comics, my next one is about 1/3 finished, I'll have to set up a proper archive for Tale of the Lettuce Patch soon, scrolling down can be a bit cumbersome...

Hey guys, Fourth strip is done, well actually I had it done on Thursday but I was too distracted too put it up, and do all the text adding stuff, which really only takes a couple of minies.
Anyways, almost reached 5 done, then once that's done, I can look at getting ten done, then twenty, then fifty, then one hundred and whoboy don't get ahead of yourself.
Alrighty,I've decided to start writing the first chapter of Saudes Saga so far I have a page and a bit written, I could say I have actually written it before but never a proper long version, I'm working on it generally each night before I go to bed.
And just so you know here's all my different story world's at the moment...
Saudes Saga- Science Fiction and fantasy elements type story, very anime styled
The Realm- Realistic setting with some supernatural elements added, Medieval world based
Chronicle of Ovaleen- Created for a DND campiagn, very straight forward High Fantasy type setting, big armies a few heroes to save the world that kind of thing
Newstory- Superhero based and will be the subject of my first attempt at a manga stylised book thing.
Anyways, then I also have that project I'm working on with a couple of friends, and TFtLP.
I probably will be creating a section on my website soon where I'll be able to post up some of my writing, after I get it proof read by my friends(if they want to read it of course...) And I may put up some of my old past stories which my friend Brendan recently found and gave back to me!
Good old Jake's little adventure, it'll give you a strange alternative look at a lot of my characters from the Guardian Universe, and yes Eledor is in it too, and he is unfortunatel ccol... :)

Anyways the third TFtLP is up, I gotta start picking up the quality again, comparing the first one to the other two I can only go...gah!
Anyways, have a visit, if you want...I won't force ya...ah who am I kidding, go or I'll throw a spoon, at something resembling a pillow or something! That's right fear for the pillow's safety...FEAR!
Others then that I may start setting up the Newstory side of the comic thingy, soon...I mean I've got the basic outline of what I want to happen for 100 pages, and the primary characters all sorted out, just need to work on actual character designs, get my drawing skills up enough to make a passable manga, then I've got it ready to go, oh and possible write up a written version first. Be my first real attempt at writing porperly in a while, and in chronological order as well...

My entire weekend just flew by, I drove for seven hours in two days, and god I'm buggered.
My websites decided to go stuff it self up, I can't access the file manager where I store all my files and I'm almost ready to give up on it. The damn server automatically puts a delayer into the code, which is what the loading screen is a direct result of...
Gah!
I tried up dating it on Friday but the damn thing refused to work, Hopefully it fixes itself up soon, cause I can't do anything to fix things at the moment...
Haven't had the time to really get the next three Tales from the lettuce patch strips ready though they are already pretty much planned out, just have to draw the good copies.
I've started finelining my pictures now, and several of them have come out great, well except this one, I used blue fineliner, so I don't think it turned out all that great once I started adding colour to it.
Anyways that's the main character from my up coming comic Newstory, that I'm working my skill up to draw properly, still gots some way to go methinks...
Anyways I think I'll post the next couple of Tales from the lettuce patch on my blog, until I can get my site working again... :(

You may have noticed that the server my site is currently on is a little slow, but its free. 100mb with an attached email account of 100mb.
Also several sections of the site aren't complete, and in the comics section there is a Newstory thingy, that's going to be my main comic for the site other then Tales from the lettuce patch, got some great ideas for a couple more strips from work today as well.
Anyways Newstory is going to be a Superhero styled attempt at a manga constructed thingy. That I've decided on a maximun of 100 pages for the primary story arch of it. Split into 4 chapters of 25 pages at most.
Other information will be revealed when I actually start the thingy.
Anyways I think I really need to work on my backgrounds for my pictures, and how to fit the characters into them a bit betterm but then Tales is a quick strip to draw, and the most cleaning up I do is replacing the written talking bits with computer text.

Anyways, gave up on trying to fix p the other comic, it was too far gone to truly save, unfortunately would've made a nice introduction to the Saudes Saga. but I digress.

Officially I'm the script writer for the video we are making in CERT IV, but to hit a nail in the coffin of this project, people keep dropping out of the course, and I'm quite sick of it!
We had 16 people at first, yesterday we had 5 people in the actual class.

Anyways, I've been playing WOW for the past two days, made a character and got them up to lvl 11, now that took me something close to 12 hours of playing, usually I can get a character up to 10 in two hours, but this time I was invited into my brother's guild, and I spent more time chatting with the guildies then playing, shocking that, I even died a few times because I was so busy chatting.
I made people laugh, not through doing stupid stuff by saying witty things to, well writing funny things, I always have said I'm a different person when writing then when I'm speaking. For one I can't mumble.
I bet tonnes of people have noticed how I mumble...
Anyways I also managed to fit some drawing practise in as well, gotta keep at it if I want to get better, and I've done two pages of what amounts to a shoddy comic, but again that's also practise, I might post them after I spend some time cleaning them up a lot, they might burn out your retina if I don't with just how horrible they are....
But I figured the art mightn't be great but good art can't carry a crap story, so if I get the writing right I can let the quality slip at first, once I get much more comfortable drawing the quality will improve...
And i have work tomorrow, its a blessing and a curse that my boss has injured his ankles, as now I have to work instead of him. At least the latest loads have been relatively small...though 3 hours for 50 kilos of turnips was extreme...
Anyways, if I fix up the comic pages I've done by tomorrow I'll put them up for you guys to have a gander, if I'm talking to anyone that is... :(

I'm back again, anyways I redid one of the pictures I put up last time, it's only a slight fix up butI think it improves the look of the picture...
Anyways also today in DV documentary we had to come up with a storyline for our video we had to do...
Of course everyone started throwing ideas around, but not helpful ideas, these were ideas that would completely change what we had originally planned on and quite frankly were a little crappy, anyways our deadline was coming up to have something written down and I got sick of all the procrastinating everyone was doing, and took charge, I forced them to agree on something despite their strange way of looking at things, wrote an outline for the storyline which is very generic and crappy I will admit but we can iron out the kinks later, anyway and wrote a summary everyone could take home with them, I also got help from another guy who went over what I had written and helped make it sound better, and less crappy. Still crap, but with a budget of next to nothing (as in whatever we ourselves can donate to the project) we had to go with something that would be simple to execute, though we did manage to have a rather complicated car chase scene planned out by the end of the day, where every henchman happens to be played by the same guy, who just so happens to have been the only guy to really help sought out what the group was doing. I love Tafe I get to do things I normally wouldn't...

Anyways Tell me what ya think of the relatively more symmetrical picture above, its not fine art hell I wouldn't class it as good art, just okay for me...anyways don't qoute me on this but I plan to have a site and at least a couple pages of comic up by June 28th

I got lazy over the holidays so I decided not to do anymore posts during that time...anyways back at Tafe again...on the comic front I've deciuded to do my trial comic based in Chronicles of Ovaleen, set 24 years before the events of the campaign.
Main characters are Kira Davis and Vladimir Von Von.

I based Vladimir's look off one of the heads you can use in KOTOR, the character I made with that head by chance happened to also be called Vladimir Von Von.
And I guess I'll chuck on another picture of Kira as well.

Relay for life from 22:00 to 06:00 I think I was up for something like 24 hours straight...

Anyways I just got up about an hour ago, I've been practising my drawing quite frequently over the past week and now I'm on holidays!
Two weeks of playing computer and video games, and working, and drawing and writing.
I also have a web address now, though somehow I managed to spell my name for it wrong...anyways, http://eledor.infinties.net, which is where I'll start putting up my comic once I finish sorting out how to use html again.
Unlike other webcomics I intend to have a history page as well as a cast page, as my story is part of a larger world. I might even try the whole donation wallpapers and stuff like that eventually if I start getting regular visitors.
Anyways enough of what maybe, I think I might try to detox myself this holidays, the amount of pepsi I've been drinking over the past couple of weeks can't have been good for me, and it'll be good to cut back a lot, might save my money as well...
Anyways, my friend Tenderfoot is getting married soon, and I get to go to the wedding! YAY! Hope those two have a wonderful life together.

Well if $175 makes me not broke I ain't anyway. That's more money then what I've seen in nearly three months!
Man I feel like crap, limping around, barely able to use my right hand properly, stupid blisters from onion tieing...
Anyways I had fun today, I even bought a little toy ninja sword thingy. I'm so proud.
At Tafe today, this is for DV documentary, my class that focuses on camera work and lighting and such and such, we got to do some filming.
I've gotta say choreographing a fight scene is hard work, and I looked like an idiot today!
Anyways, I've come to the conclusion that I need to be able to matain a serious face while in front of a camera, especially if I'm meant to be a henchman of some description.
Anyways, we had the only girl in our group act as the heroine, who proceeded to walk through and kill all of us henchmen, there was about six to eight of us...I am proud to say I was the first to die!
We were protecting our leader a melodramtic guy who had a big sword and liked running away while sacrificing his henchmen to the heroine. Though trust me the girl in our group can be classed as a little butch.
Anyways, I respawned once and fought the first part of the final battle against the heroine again, with three others, though I was probably the only one on time.We died vainly protecting our leader, before he engaged her in a fierce slightly choregraphed duel, before she mortally wounded him against a large tree. He then with the last of his strength pulled out a gun and shot her in the heart killing her instantly...in the end we all died...YAY!
Anyways, it was fun, other then the fact that i was still hurting from yesterday and probably pulled some leg muscles.

Tomorrow working in the rain, oh happy day...that is if it rains though...

I just had work today, all 8 hours and 45 minutes of it...

175 cabbages, I cut on my own, and helped pack the last thirty.
830 onions of which I personally tied 50 bunches of ten, with string, tore some skin off my little finger in the process, and something like 2000+ lettuce, of which I cut a good percentage of them.
Most of it was done with just Gavin my boss and the new guy, who somehow managed to not have organised a shower for himself, breakfast or lunch, managed to put rotten lettuce in a processing bin, can't pack for the life of him, and had no money to buy himself lunch...
But I digress work stresses aside I've got now about 14 hours of work money owed to me, maybe 12 now that I think about it... $120 I hope...
Any who haven't had anytime to even think about practsing drawing or writing yet, but I'll porbably try to get some writing in before I go to bed...
And on a sadder note, my good work buddy friend Keith was at a funeral today for one of his better friends...
Anyhows I'm tired need to have a shower and need SO MUCH SLEEP...but can't have it yet, but I'll have money soon YAY!
I hate being broke...

Finally somethings going right!

Work started up for me last week, after two months of little to no work I'm back earning money!
Finally I can start paying debts off again, like that $220 I owe my brother...anyways I've started playing WOW again, but then I haven't played it in ages, its nice to come back to things occasionally. I read an awesome Manga, named Ruronni Kenshin, about the Meiji Period of Japan and a swordsman who was partially responsible for the overthrow of the Shogun.
I also got a weeks reprieve on that assignment I had to hand in! Phew...and here I was panicking...
My new favourite song is Overkill, played in scrubs.
And yes one of my new favourite shows is Scrubs, Dr Cox is awesome!
Anways might try and do some experimentation with backgrounds, and also do some work on my hands and feet. Maybe have them hold a sword or something...
Also with my webcomic I'll start it by having a few practise runs, with random stories and differing levels of humour and seriousness, helps me practise my story writing skills and willl teach me what its like to keep to a deadline for once...

Another picture I drew during a lunch break. As you can clearly see it is Eledor, as I kinda think he'll appear in the Comic.
I still need a lot of work on my hands, but I can still make passable looking pictures, I guess.
Anyways what do you think of this picture. This is probably how I'm going to end up drawing Eledor with some alterations.

Man I'm getting stressed out over this game I"ve gotta make, its due in a day, and I've barely started, I'll probably be staying up to two on thursday night making a passable game. Bloody hell I've had two goddamn weeks to do this damn thing and I don't start it properly till the day before its due!
It's official I'm a stupid person, who is extremly lazy...
Anyways on a lighter note, I think I've finished my Brief 1 for 3d. A simple modelling exercise where I chose to create a pen holder thingy and chucked in a higly detailed clicker pen, that I also created, svereal Mechanical pencils, and two normaller looking pencils.
They don't look to realistic but hey, I've only just began! Bahahaha...

I have storyboarrded out the first couple of pages, but the storyboards for each page are unfortunately no higher then two centimetres, makes it very hard to tell what's meant to be happening, in an action filled manga style comic...

Lazy week...

I've had a real lazy week this last week, didn't do a single thing to help myslef at all...just spent it playing medieval II and about an hour of WOW, not much considering the fourty or so hours I spent playing Medieval...
Anyways I saw Hot Fuzz on the weekend and it was awesome, a little slow, but the last thirty minutes has some of the most insane and hilarious action scenes I've ever seen, oh and Timothy Dalton has a major role in it as well. Its by the same people who did Shawn of the Dead, and Simon Pegg again is the titular main character, this time a hard bitten offiscious cop who was so good at his job he made the rest of the force look useless in comparison, so they sent him off to a quiet town in the country.
That's basically the first five minutes of the film, Bill Bailey also has an appearance, and Bill Nighy.
I loved it, its funny from start to finish, and should be watched by everyone.
And yes I haven't so much as drawn more then a single head this whole damn week...I hate practising, but if I want to get better at drawing I'll need to really knuckle down...

I've discovered the fact that if someone puts a picture in front of me, I can produce a fairly decent replicar, now if I can use those guiding images, I may be able to start producing my own original art. With my comic I'll make a sort of gag a day comic or something, where I'll try every opportunity to practise my artwork, backgrounds, character movements, characters themselves...
Then the Realm will start, if I can get the quality up...
AnywaysI've finally rearranged my room and managed to keep it clean!
My bed is now up against the wall, I've moved my big chest of draws, and boy does my room feel different, A lot more open for starters, and I have three chest of draws.
Also my sister went through two of my shelves of my bookcase, ended up with six bags of rubbish, don't quite know how it all fit in there but anyhow it was quite impressive. Now my millions of one tenth used exercise books are all neatly stored in folders. Next my wardrobe, with sveral years of acculmated junk, with five times the capacity of my bookcase...*shudder*
Anyways, still playing Medieval II, probably should get around to checking what work I need to do for TAFE, seeing as I have so much freetime...no work in about two months now...probably should look for a new job, and figure out how to save money better, saving probably more important at the moment.
Anyways, I'm fine by the way, wonder what everyone else is up to?

Where'd everybody go?
Ah well, if no one feel likes telling me my pictures aren't great fine. Anyways, one of my brothers guinea pigs died today well maybe two days ago, I always wondered when too many pets would overwhelm him. He has enough trouble handling Sandro as it is.
Of course I had to bury it for him too...what am I the resident grave digger. Sure I've racked up a lot of kills from animal neglect, uh maybe thirty, but then I was young stupid and quite surprised nowadays that mum and Dad trusted me with that many guinea pigs...
Anyways I've been playing Medieval II, its a good game, except for the Grand Campaign. I don't know what it is about it but, I have to keep quitting one team to try another, I find out they're about the same then I repeat the process.
So far my favourite kingdom is the Holy Roman Empire, MEIN KAISER!
They give each team different accents based on their country of origin, though some teams are very similar to others.
I love Iron Maiden!

I decided to post an image, of a character I drew not traced, using all the correct methods for drawing manga. Though it is very similar to the guide image. But I drew it not traced it!
Its a picture of Aeries from the Saudes Saga, Return of Ruin, hence the moderny clothes.

I still have trouble drawing the hands right without a guiding image. The feet are also a pain. But it looks well proportioned for once, I usually make them to short or make their head to big.
Anyways, hope that gives you an idea where I'm up to with my drawing skills at the moment.

Anyways, I've started writing out the intro to the Realm, and I think I will put it here now, no talking in this part.
And it is just a draft, so this is where comments would help, like a change in tone, or a suggestion for diffferent wording, or whatever. Please no vagaries, they really don't help me.
Anyways here it is, you might have read it before to, I do like rewriting my intros over and over.

Night settled over the keep like a great cloak of darkness. The only lights were those carried by the sentries patrolling the darkened walls. None noticed the hooded and cloaked figure slip onto the top of the wall.
One guard stood between it and the stairs leading down to the keep but he faced the wrong way. The figure silently moved up behind the guard, almost wraith like. In one movement it broke the unexpecting man's neck and pushed his ccrpse off the wall.
Quickly it moved down the stairs lest it be seen and opened the thick wooden door that barred its passage. Stepping through it found itself in what could only be the servants quarters. Carefully and silently the claoked figure navigated around the many bunks, a servant stirred and looked up as the figure passed his bunk. A small whimper escaped his throat as the figure looked at him for a moment, its face hidden in the shadows of its volumous hood.
The moment passed and the figure continued on dismissing the threat of the poor man. passing through a door it entered a corridor, knowing instantly where it was and where it had to go the figure began moving quickly towards the end of the corridor. Heading for the single door at the end.
The door proved no obstacle, its lock was easily picked and the figure entered a bedroom. A young woman slept noiselessly, her long aubrun hair spread out like a fan around her face. A near black sword was drawn slowly and cermoniusly from the folds of its great cloak and swung up before its shadowed face. It flowed to the side of the bed and stood over the woman for a long moment.
Suddenly she stirred and looked sleepily up at the black cloaked figure, her eyes widened in shock and she let lose a scream. The sword swung down and all became silence.

If you want ya can give me some criticism, also that's how I plan to start my comic, like the first three or four pages, anyways.
Let me have it, with teh criticism, and I'll have a revised version up at some later point. For some reason and I don't get why, but I'm banned from writing posts at BRIT, but I can look at my blog, its kinda frustraing.

The Realm comic

Okay, now I've actually planned out the first couple of pages already, now all I have to do is wait until my drawing skill is capable of matching my storyboarding skills. I also need to work on my dialogue because I haven't decided on the specifics.
Three weeks into BRIT and I'm enjoying myself, I didn't enjoy Education, I tried but found the lectures boring sleep worthy and stuff, but with this course I can stay awake because I'm not forced to sit in a room with more then a hundred students and listen while a teacher while a teacher explains down in front what is going on. Lectures just don't work for me.
I'm also finding it kind of easy most of the time which is a good thing, but also challenging when it needs to be. Now all I have to do is start playing with the programs outside of class time to get even better.
Going back to my comic.
The main characters are Aeries, a squire of the Shandrillan knight Order, and her mentor and trainer Eledor. Later on they are joined by a young girl named Emyli, and by others but in general it will be just the two of them, encountering problems on their travels across the vast Realm.
The Realm is a massive Empire, only matched by its Southern neigbour the Aethyran Empire and by the Eastern barbarian tribes of Stanza.
The Realm is based partly on the Byzantine Empire during its prime, when its armies were on the cutting edge of science.

Okay I've now decided to set the comic in the Realm.
The prinicple main characters are Eledor and Aeries.
It is about how Eledor takes Aeries on as his squire and how they adventure across the Realm, meeting strange people, dealing with problems they encounter and stuff.
They meet other characters in their travels and even have a few join their little group.

Hey peoples, me again.
I was hoping for some help in deciding the storyline and style of my comic.
I've already decided it'll be done in right to left manga style, as it means each page will be different and allows for more dynamic scenes and stuff.
What I would really like help with is if I should set it in present day or go for a different time period for where it is set.
Main characters were determined to be Eledor(not at start of comic), Aeries, Emyli, Ronen, Claire. Ronen and Claire are generally a pair so they can pretty much count as one character.
I was orignally going to set it in a fictional Australian town named Toreno, and Have Emyli, Ronen and Claire as new students at Toreno Senior Seconday College. But I've been rethinking that, I don't if I'd really like to do a school setting as it is fairly heavily used in most webcomics I've read.
Anyways, if anyone can come with an opinion from what I wrote above, I'd like to hear it.

Asked me what this was couple years back I wouldn'tve had a clue, now I would be able to tell you what the biggest ones are, without hesitation. PVP. Penny Arcade, Megatokyo and the Wotch.
All have a decided focus on humour, although MegaTokyo has become a bit more serious over the years it has been going, which I've found to be a very interesting process.
And now I've come to the decision to write and draw my own. I'll need to get a website I can stash it on, and actually think up a decent storyline, work out how my characters will look in the comic, work on my dialogue and then if I manage all that I can actually start.
I've made an original story up for the comic, but it will use all of the primary characters from the Saudes Saga, and now all I have to do is work on my drawing skills and viola, it will hopefully be cool. Then after I get a hundred or so done, I'll try to spread the word on the net about my comic...aah yes plans. Anyways, while doing that of course I'm doing my course and occasionally working on my stories, and probably doing some script writing for my friend's game, and trying to get some work in as well.
I've got a busy year ahead of me if all goes to plan....

I'm in BRIT!

I love it when thigs go my way.
Now all I have to do is work consistantly hard for 800 hours of class time, and I'll be fine I hope.
The course I'm in is Certificate IV Computer Multimedia, or Games Technology as they advertise it in the paper.
I'll be using flash, 3dfmax and from the sounds of things about 12 other people will be in the course with me! Now that's a small class size!
I'll have classes, on Tuesday to Friday, with monday's off, so I can still work. Each day will be taken by a different teacher and focus on one key area. Such as 2d animation and #d animation.
And at the end I have the chance to get not one certificate IV but 2, one in computer multimedia and another in prject management, or something.
Starting on the 13th of February.
And there I was panicking before I went in, I was worried I wouldn't meet the minimun requirements for the course and have to do a different area and everything. So it's all cool now.

Other then that, I'll put up a short story or too soon on my blog. And I think it's about time that I write the first chapter for the Saudes Saga. Go over it fix it up have a look at different conversations options, try and get it to sound natural. Go over any fight scenes a few times to try to get the action more fluid and natural sounding. And if anyone wants to they can have a look at my short stories I'll write and COMMENT on them please, critise them tell me what's wrong with them or right, and no vague it just doesn't sound right. Blunt is best, just don't tell me I suck either...

You know what I think I'll do BRIT, an IT course, multimedia certificate IV, it's more along my lines of interest.
I was always against BRIT during my time in Uni, now I find that I hate uni, there was no real support structure, the lecturers just didn't seem to care half the time. Education, was fun while it lasted but, it was also very boring a lot of the time. I'm not particularily predeposed towards lectures, I can't stand sitting listening to a person for an hour, but then how do I know TAFE will be any different? Time will tell.

I may not have said this already, but I've watched this movie called Steamboy, and it was fantastic, well the animation was anyway. Most expensive japanese animated film ever with a budget of nearly thirty million. In american terms that's a fairly cheap film, but the Japanese can do so much more with a smaller budget. It even had Patrick Stewart as a voice actor. It had mind blowing animation, well not really brain exploding but it was definitely good, but I found it to have a rather typical plot, a man goes mad from his power, his father tries to stop him, and ultimately it concludes with most of London being frozen...go figure.

In my entire life I've never failed a single subject, the worst I ever recieved was a D in English Literature, last year. I just got my results about two days ago, god I hate that word...got.

To put it bluntly I failed three out of four subjects, for this semester. I was expecting to at least pass two not one.
Well educations dead for me, I can't seeing myself going back to do a four year course, and taking five years to do it.
So I may end up heading to BRIT and defer for a year at uni. Then after getting a certificate IV in Information Technology I may go back to uni, to do a computing course.

Its odd, but I'm glad education is over, I'm done with the entire course for now. I enjoyed my time on practicum, but for some reason no matter what I did all I got was terrible reports for it, I had needs improvement in nearly everything in part of a report, yet the comments were along the lines, of did great, needs some better direction to classes, but my god, I didn't do that poorly, first years are meant to observe what teachers do, write notes, and take a few classes, I wrote in the end nearly fifteen lesson plans, took nearly ten hours worth of classes, and had to put up with usually well behaved children acting up horribly. one of them even cheered when they were told it was my last day.

Parents reaction was as I expected it would be, part of the reason I never really brought up the point that I was having trouble getting motivated to do much of anything. I should've deffered for the year, and found a real job, I haven't had a real job 9 to 5 sought of thing in ever, other than one week of Bendigo Books.
I would've learnt a few useful things if I had, and got a bit more motivated to continue in another area.

One thing I've learnt about my parents, they don't like to hear that their kids are having any sought of trouble, but then when I ask for help with subjects they blink at me and tell me to ask my friends or brother for help. I got told off for getting very goods on a mid semester report in year seven, it wasn't even a proper assessment of my skills.

I haven't played World of Warcraft for nearly two months now, I wonder how my guild is going if it still exists...it was up to around ten fairly active players on it. Then my time ran out, and I became broke, so I couldn't afford to pay for another two month game card...
Just sitting here in front of my computer I realize just how bored I am. There was one thing I liked about World of Warcraft, the ability to log in and play at anytime, do some quests go up a level, it passed the time. And helped me stop being bored for little bits. I mean don't get me wrong the game got boring at times to, I am very easily bored of a game if I play it to much, stop feeling like I have a challenge and all that, damn k buton on keyboard sticking in like that...
One exam down three to go. My passing two subjects rest on me getting a good mark on them, the other two less so.
Damn my laziness, type factor!
World of Warcraft makes even Oblivion seem small in comparison, there's just so much to explore and do, and then you can redo it all with another character, I loved making characters in that game...

Anyways, I better try and distract myself with some game I'm bored of...

Why do I have such trouble getting started on work?
I mean I've been really slack this year, wait I remeber VCE, with its DLAs...The things that don't give you a mark but were necessary for you not to fail. I really don't see the sense in that...
Anyway I was extremely lazy when it came to the DLAs, I only handed them in when I got the letter home about it, in general about three or so weeks, after the day it was orginally due in. The lack of consequences and the actual fact that it really didn't matter when it was handed in as long as the teacher saw it, eventually.
I learnt one important thing from VCE, how to be lazy.

Year 7-10 I was still the way I was thanks to my primary teacher, I handed in work and did a lot of experimenting with ways of writing and drawing. Teachers actually liked me, and encouraged me to be myself in eveything I did.
Get to VCE, one of the key things I remember was one teacher saying my work needs to be less me, little wonder that I got poor marks all the way through...

Yes I hate VCE, I hate it lots...

Enough on that, now I'm meant to be doing some work for a class, that I'm handing in on Monday, that is very boring and long type of work, that I will probably have to finish either tomorrow or Monday morning...

Ah well bettter make a start...

Why do people say this everytime they dye their hair.
I know a tonne of people who say this as an excuse for dying their hair, and I really don't know why they bother making up an excuse or something. I mean they could say, I got bored of the colour I was born with so I decided to bleach all the pigment out of my hair.
And then they call it white, when in reality it is only a light blonde.
Golly gosh, what is the world coming to?!

I mean its not like I wouldn't want white hair, for some odd reason, but the best way of changing your hair ccolour seems to only come up with a light blonde, not the white white.

I MEAN COME ON!

(cough*) ahem anyway I've started watching a show called Naruto, it drags things out like Dragonball Z, but... its about Ninjas!
And it has real gore. In onw episode I saw one of the characters literally sprouting needles and coughing up blood, and this show is showed at six o'clock on Cartoon Network...I wonder if they got their classification right?
And it has a warning that it is PG, not M, or MA, but PG...

Just because it is an animated show, doesn't mean the violence in it is any less, bloody then an M rated program.

Ghost in the Shell SAC, was rated M, and in the first episode the main character kicks the foot off a sniper type bad guy, with the resulting blood, and gore. I mean is that really M?

Anyway Ive got exams real soon, so fun for me...

Hello again...

I've been playing Elder Scrolls IV recently, and basically its all I want to play.
The game is just so large, compared to everything else I've ever played. There is far more to this game then simply lvling up.

I've barely even begun to explore the whole game world, and from what I've heard recently, there's still a lot more to the gameworld than what you can currently access, the world's so big already, and there's still more to it...

My current character is based around Eledor, in appearance, clothes he wears, and the weapons he uses. He is Archmage of the Mages guild, Grand Champion of the Arena, and is only lvl 7.
And I've just started with the thieves guild and Fighters guild.
I wish I had more time to play this game...

Anyway I'm now back at uni, and with my writing I've gone to the Realm, as it has the most room to expand, as I haven't given it a straight forward kill that guy, move onto next type approach. It's has large scale battles, but the thing that makes this one different to the others is that the world the story takes place in is largely static. Small things may change but on the whole the world stays the same, despite the actions of the main protaganists.
Eledor is still a deadly swordsman, however he is riddled with character flaws, and for once is actually human, so he is mortal, rather than immortal. He takes frequent injuries and spends ages recuperating from them.
He is a wandering knight, of an unknown sect.

In the Realm knights act as the officers, chief investigators and secret police, and holy men of the church, they are seperated into sects depending on the role in society they take.
Gold Knights act as the trainers and teachers of the order.
Silver Knights act as the elite Bodyguards to the Emperor, and the Arch Cleric.
Blue Knights act as the chief police force in the the Realm, and are responsible for maintaining the law in the cities.
Forest Knights act as country police forces and are far fewer in number to a much larger area, generally they are very hard working individuals.
Red Knights act as the internal police, and keep an eye on the other sects to make certain none over step their bounds as knights.
Gray Knights act as the officers of the army, and are structured very differently to the other sects, much more organised and ordered.
Raven Knights; act as the secret police, they are responsible for removing troublesome people who the law can't contain, effectively they act as a state sanctioned assassins guild.
Brown Knights act as the holy men of the order. And frequently serve as priests in the more dangerous regions of the Realm where it would be to dangerous to send normal priests.

Each sect has a Sect leader the title for each is different.
Knights become knights by first recieving an education at an academy, usually they are from well to do families, or are part of the nobility, then they become a squire to a full fledged knight, who furthers their training for another two years, and gives the squires practical experience and an idea of what sect they would prefer to join, generally the squire joins the same sect as the knight he is attached to.
The Realm is only starting to recognise equality of sexes, so female knights are few and far between. They are unusual but not unheard of, but like any male dominated career a lot of sexism can occur.

This presents Aeries with a problem, she is the only girl at the academy, though she is the adopted daughter of the Gold Knight in charge of the academy, also she is born of peasant stock while most of the knights in training are of noble blood. Double wammy.

Not all knights are trained warriors, for the Raven Sect, subtlety and guile are far more useful, though they do recieve rudimentary self defense training.

I'll go into more detail of the Sects next time.

Anyway, the other Guardian Universe stories have magic and gods as major focuses of their storylines. The Realm is a lot more realistic, and is really the orginal Guardian Universe. with influence now from Oblivion and Medieval Total War.

Stressing out much?!

I hate being the first to admit it, but I think I'm feeling the first effects of being stressed out.
Constant sought of worrying that I have to do something, but can't quite bring myself to do it, whatever that something is.

So to keep my mind of it I will talk about my rather uneventful trip to the Grampians.

For starters the unit which was worth $110 a day was not worth it. Straight flat out it was a total ripoff. It was one of those cheap portable things; with an oven, a toilet, a curtained shower, two sinks(shock horror, one in the bathroom one in the what went for a kitchen), a table with six chairs around it, just enough plates and utensils for five people, four bunk beds, and one double bed. Oh and a twelve inch tv, without a dvd player!
However after exploring hall gap for a while we realised why there was no dvd player. The only place that rented out dvds, had enough to fill a small shopping bag,*counting* the videos in that same stand.
The walk however was worth it I guess, about sevn k's long and completely planned by me, on the fly as we were came upon signs that pointed us in directions. I also carried the bag full of water, and the jackets and stuff, as everyone seemed to be dieing from lifting the massive 3 kilo weight worth of water that was in the bag.
So for the most part I lead us( being my sister and brother). Nice place to walk if you don't mind the occasional sheer drop only thirty centimetres away from where you are walking. At one point I couldn't bring myself to go any further, due to the very unsafe nature of the rock, it had recently rained, of course just to spite me, despite my obvious distress at being near such a god awfully unsafe spot, my brother took it upon himself to explore further.
He went out of earshot for about five minutes and I couldn't see him either. I was terrified to be that close to a sheer edge. And I had horrible images of falling off that sheer face, down to a nasty death.
Finally we left there and headed for a more sedate and half dead waterfall instead much to my relief.
I don't mind heights so much, its just heights where a single poorly placed foot can send you plummiting to your death, that I have trouble with.
Anyway we headed back, and my brother shouted us to Icecream, and Fudge.

I've come to the decision that I can clean my room up rather well, hoever maintaining it as clean is a whole different ball game...for me that is. I'm surprised I don't have more bugs in this room.

Anywho, I took a break from wrting this weekend, in fact the only stuff I did do, was write the word Eledor, and a brief description of Wren amounting to about twenty words in total. Instead I read a Terry Prachet book, the Douglas Adams of Fantasy, as I read it once put. Guards! Guards!

It has the best ever intro to a book, in the form of its acknowledgements.

He acknowledges the contribution of the city guard in fantasy stories, the guys who get killed by the hero in many bloody ways, who are only trying to do their job, and feed a family.
The Discworld is awesome!

Is blogging really worth it?

The main reason I started blogging was to showcase story ideas and get criticism on them, constructive in nature.

I don't like talking about me, I'm more interested in other people then myself. I'm boring, slightly eccentric maybe but in a boring meandering way.

I like my stories, and I'm excited when I get the chance to share them with others. I've been in the process of planning them for most of my life. They have been influenced by the many books I've read, shows and movies I've seen.

I even decided to try and create an original world for the DnD game I made up for my brother and friend, and have thus far, made another massive world, with numerous sub-plots happening at once. And I plan to write that into a book eventually, when I get the chance to, using the characters those two decided to make as the central characters. Chronicles of Ovaleen is still a Guardian Universe Story, thus it still has the same Pantheon of Gods, and many of the same characters from the others, though as it is a different world, they are also different, not carbon copies of their other identities.

I am a good writer when I set my mind and time completely to it, but as of late the stories I have showcased on this blog, have been hastily put together things, that I wrote in ten minutes. So they are not my best work, possibly verging on my worst and over commarised.

Anyway point I'm trying to make is, I didn't put up this blog to bitch about my life and talk about personal troubles, I put it up to talk about things that interest me, at the moment that's my story. The Real world is in many ways crap and boring to me.
I was actually going to use this blog to write about my characters, but its hard to show how truly complicated most of them are in a blog, I just find it hard to write properly on a computer. Its much more easy to write naturally with a pen and paper.

None of my characters can kill fifty people without raising a finger, or barely raising a finger, except for the ones who happen to be virtually demigods, and they are few and far between, unless you count ordering people to do it for you the same thing.

Now Eledor is more a reflection of me when I'm in a serious mood, hie height is the same as mine, his weight would be the same as mine if I bulked up a little. And he's all about tragedy, almost all of his loved ones died in his arms, he's introverted and aloof due to that fact, and can very easily loose his temper and go berserk when those remaining of those he cares about are put in danger. He finds it hard to fit, when I first started writing Eledor as a character in my stories, a lot of his thoughts and actions reflected what I would've done. Feeling like an outsider and all that. The Saudes Saga particularly focuses on hi as a character.
Though the Realm would give him his most human portrayal as he possesses no special power, his strength and speed are not so superior to the other characters, and he has had less time to experience the world.
Eledor is essentially, personality wise a darker me, not the me I show to everyone but the me I don't show, the angrier and more bitter me, he is also in a way a tragic hero.
My other character Finn, represents a bit more of my traditional role, I take in Roleplaying games, the stand up guy, who fights the good fight, despite the many foes in his path, though again he has a bit of bitterness, and my grumpiness in him when I get a bit stressed.
Aeries is extremely important to the progression of the story, while Eledor remains largely static and slowly changes, Aeries is the character who grows more and more confident, grows up in her attitude to life, and generally develops, into one of the strongest characters of the story.

Now the last post was simply a fifteen minute rant by me, and I got over it, just remember I had people making fun of my story or saying it was crap all through Year ten, so I "REALLY" don't like people saying its boring, it reminds me of that time and I arc up.

Anyway, I'm sleep deprived and slightly grumpy still at the moment.
Let it be known that I will never touch on anything said in the "Screw this" post every again, I don't like looking at those parts of my life that I hate and won't go back there.

Anyway, I don't have to get up till nine or ten tomorrow!
Yay for me!

I don't talk about personal things for several reasons, I could easily alienate everyone I know, if I did.
Deep down I am an incredibly angry person, unsure of his own future whether or not he should be in the course he is in. I had to deal with almost continually being picked on, from grade 3 to year 11(stopped at year 11).
And at one point was nearly molested by another year 7 kid, in defence I stabbed him in the hand with a pen I was holding.
You wanna get into the whole thing, I'm find it difficult being in large gatherings, especially when I'm dragged of to parties, where I barely know anyone. I don't feel like I belong, so I withdraw into my shell so to speak...
My borther before leaving for Melbourne for his operation, told me I was to blame for ruining his life, that I stole most of his friends. Do you know how that felt when you think he might not have been coming back?
The only reason I met his friends is because he dragged me along to a lot of things.
I've been broke for the past three weeks, only five dollars literally to my name!
I don't talk about my personal opinions becasue a lot of people annoy me, and I don't want to hurt them, and they don't often sit to well with others. I'm also perpetually tired because I go to bed at around one in the morning, and get up at seven in the morining, six hours of sleep, instead of nine hours.
I don't have a great job, but because of Uni I can't even work there at all!
I had to deal with the shock that once you reach VCE, the teachers don't care for you being you, they just want you to fit into a program they have decided is the best for you, and then returning to the old way upon reacxhing University.
As many of my friends who knew me from Golden Square say, VCE destroyed me...academically.
I can't talk to girls, I'm to scared to, so my chances of getting a girlfriend are limited, I keep thinking I'll end up like my Great Uncle, a seventy year old bachelor, who doesn't think he's old.
I offer good advice, but rarely follow it myself, making me a hypocrite, and I hate hypocrites.
I want to be a writer but my writing is subpar.
Enough personal crap, now I've had my fucking bitch...
